Betting Online Overview
Boston Bruins fans won’t like hearing this but the Bruins did everything right in their game one loss to the Vancouver Canucks in the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals. While the online Belmont betting continues, the Bruins are forced to figure out how to beat Vancouver goaltender Roberto Luongo after everything the Bruins tried in game one did not work. The Bruins tried screening Luongo by using Zdeno Chara in front of the net, but Luongo made the save. The Bruins tried passing in front of the net, but Luongo was there. The NHL highlights from game one show a Roberto Luongo that has shed his playoff problems from the past and is ready to claim his Stanley Cup prize.
The Vancouver Canucks better be careful because they had similar problems with Boston goaltender Tim Thomas. The pay per head Canucks fans in attendance at game one were getting nervous as the game progressed and the Canucks could not beat Thomas. Finally, a Bruins’ defensive lapse gave Vancouver all of the opening they needed to score the game’s only goal. The Canucks did stand their ground as far as the physical play goes in game one, but if it weren’t for Luongo then game one would have been a blowout for the Bruins. The Canucks need to stay out of the penalty box and stay away from the boards if they want to claim their first Stanley Cup championship.
Boston Bruins
The Bruins looked really tired by the time the third period was half over. Boston had spent the entire game chasing the Canucks around and it was showing. The Bruins managed to control play in the second period, but the first and third periods were wide open and Tim Thomas is what kept the Bruins in the game. At times, the Bruins defense looked disorganized and confused. The Bruins game plan should be simple. Keep the center of the ice clogged up so that the Canucks have to play along the boards, and then pound the Canucks into the boards. It wasn’t so much that the Vancouver speed gave Boston problems in game one, it was more that the Bruins did not look ready to play the game. Boston will be ready for game two.
Vancouver Canucks
Everything was going great for Vancouver in game one, and it looked like the game may be a rout. Then Daniel Sedin took a four-minute double minor for high-sticking Zdeno Chara and drawing blood at the four minute mark of the first period. The entire game changed from that point on. The Bruins pounded nine shots at the net during that power play and the only reason they did not score is Roberto Luongo. The Bruins dominated the second period physically, but could not beat Luongo.
The Canucks are starting to believe their own press, and it could be their undoing in the Finals. The Canucks looked like they were laying back at times, waiting for the play to come to them. Almost as if the Canucks believed that if they just wait it out, they will win this series. If they try that again in game two, they will get a much different result.
The Bottom Line
The Bruins will have plenty of time to get over jet lag and whatever was causing their fatigue in game one. Boston will get back to their game plan and Tim Thomas will continue to stand on his head to help Boston win the second game of the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals.
Pick: Boston Bruins
