2014 NFL Preseason Week 1 Betting

The 2014 NFL preseason officially kicks off with the Pro Football Hall of Fame game on Sunday, August 3, when the New York Giants play the Buffalo Bills, but the rest of the NFL teams wont start playing their preseason games on Thursday, August 7.

There are six games scheduled to be played on Thursday night, which are previewed below.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS AT NEW YORK JETS, 7:00 PM. EST.
The Colts made it to the divisional round of the playoffs last year without Pro Bowl receiver Reggie Wayne, who suffered a season ending injury last year, and is expected to be ready to go once the season starts.

The Jets managed to win eight games last year, defying odds that they were going to be one of the worst teams in the league. They will be trying to improve on their performance this year.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS AT WASHINGTON REDSKINS, 7:30 PM. EST.
Robert Griffin III will try to rebound from his poor sophomore season, and lead his team back into the playoffs, while the Patriots are hoping the addition of Darrell Revis and a healthy Rob Gronkowski will help them get back to the Super Bowl.

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS AT BALTIMORE RAVENS, 7:30 PM. EST.
This is the first meeting between the teams since the Ravens defeated the 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII, the 49ers made it to the NFC Championship game last year, while the Ravens failed to make it into the playoffs.

CINCINNATI BENGALS AT KANSAS CITY CHIEFS, 8:00 PM. EST.
The Bengals won their division for the first time since 2009, but were defeated in the first round of the playoffs; they will have a tough time defending their division title this year, because the Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to rebound after missing the playoffs last year. The Chiefs also lost in the first round of the playoffs last year, and will also have their work cut out for them in their division this year.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS AT DENVER BRONCOS, 9:00 PM. EST.
This is a rematch of the Super Bowl, the stakes are not as high, but the Broncos will want to wash the taste of defeat from their mouths by beating the Seahawks.

DALLAS COWBOYS AT SAN DIEGO CHARGERS, 10:00 PM. EST.
The Cowboys are hoping quarterback Tony Romo is fully healed from his offseason back surgery, while the Chargers are hoping Phillip Rivers plays as well as he did last year.

There are also six games scheduled for Friday, August 8, and they are previewed below.

MIAMI DOLPHINS AT ATLANTA FALCONS, 7:00 PM. EST.
The Dolphins are trying to move past the distractions that derailed their season last year, while the Falcons are hoping to stay healthy this year, after losing key players to injuries last year.

BUFFALO BILLS AT CAROLINA PANTHERS 7:30 PM. EST.
The Bills feel they can make it back to the playoffs this year for the first time since 1999, while the Panthers think they can make a Super Bowl run this year.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS AT JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS, 7:30 PM. EST.
The Bucs hired Lovie Smith in the offseason to get them back into the playoffs, while the Jaguars decided to hit the reset button by trading quarterback Blaine Gabbert away, and starting fresh with Blake Bortles.

OAKLAND RAIDERS AT MINNESOTA VIKINGS, 8:00 PM. EST.
The Raiders signed former Houston Texan, Matt Schaub to lead them back into the playoffs, and the Vikings drafted Teddy Bridgewater to bring some stability to their quarterback position.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES AT CHICAGO BEARS, 8:00 PM. EST.
The Eagles are hoping Nick Foles repeats the spectacular season he had last year, and helps them win the division for the second straight year, while the Bears are hoping Jay Cutler can stay healthy this year.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS AT ST. LOUIS RAMS, 8:00 PM. EST.
The Saints have improved their defense, and they hope it is enough to get them back into the Super Bowl, while the Rams are hoping Sam Bradford can stay healthy this year, and help them compete for a playoff spot in a tough division..

CLEVELAND BROWNS AT DETROIT LIONS, 7:30 PM. EST.
Fans will get their first look at Heisman winner Johnny Manziel in a Browns uniform, and Golden Tate will make his first appearance in a Lions uniform.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS AT NEW YORK GIANTS, 7:30 PM. EST.
The Steelers will be trying to bounce back after missing the playoffs for the second straight year, and the Giants will be trying to do the same.

GREEN BAY PACKERS AT TENNESSEE TITANS, 8:00 PM. EST.
The Packers have added a few players to help improve their defense, which was one of the worst in the league last year, and the Titans will try to improve on their success from last year, and finish the season with a winning record.

HOUSTON TEXANS AT ARIZONA CARDINALS, 8:30 PM. EST.
The Texans added top pick Jadeveon Clowney to their tough defense, and they are expected to be one of the best units in the league this year. The Cardinals won 10 games, but missed the playoffs last year, they will try to improve their record and make it to the playoffs this year.
