Everything is kind of messy with the L.A. Dodgers these days as their on-field play is mirroring their off-field drama.  They enter this weekend set with the Mets having won just 4 of their last 10 and just can’t seem to get on any sort of roll even though they have the hottest hitting duo around in outfielders Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier.  Their pitching has been pretty good to with Huroki Kuroda best among starters with a 3.10 ERA and a great K:BB ratio.  This is a chance for the Dodgers to get into the race in the National League West against a struggling opponent.  Plus it will be interesting to see if Ethier can keep it up.

The New York Mets are a confounding team.  Their lineup can be quite good but more often isn’t, and their pitching is superbly erratic.  Their best starting pitcher is a knuckleballer who nobody even wanted two years ago.  On the hill tonight is John Niese who flashes occasional potential.  He has posted 3 quality starts in a row but hasn’t been very good against the Dodgers in his career.  It doesn’t help that he gets little support from the offense when he deals (just 3.3 runs/game).  Last, there are tons of trade rumours swirling around this club’s two best player David Wright and Jose Reyes.  Too many distractions and too poor pitching to feel comfortable backing the,

Prediction: Lots of uncertainty around both theses clubs these days…but the Dogders have more sure things to get behind.  They take the first game of the series.

Score Prediction: Los Angeles  – 5 - New York  – 3
