In the meantime, the Yankees who now own the AL’s best record will look to extend their longest winning streak of the season when they roll into Citi Field, winning 15 of their last 19, putting them 2 1/2 games up in the East.

Shortstop Jose Reyes has been on fire, going 14 for 24 with nine runs in the past five games. His .352 average ties him with the Red Sox’s Adrian Gonzalez for tops in baseball and is 61 points higher than his career mark.

Manager Terry Collins will hand the ball to 24-year old Dillon Gee (8-1) who recovered from a shaky start in the follow-up to his only loss of the season, allowing three runs and eight hits with two walks while striking out seven in 5 2-3 innings of a 14-5 win at Texas last weekend.
The left-hander is 4-1 with a 2.63 ERA in his last six starts and will be making his Subway series debut on Saturday.
The odds makers have the New York Yankees as a -1.5 point favorite with an run total of 8.5.
Matt’s Free Prediction: Yankees– Although both teams are hitting well, this game will come down to pitching, and Gee is a kid about to be thrust into a lion’s den. I also believe the Mets might have used up a year’s worth of hits over the last week, while the Yanks are just warming up.
