NASCAR Heluva Good Sour Cream Dips 400

The 15th Sprint Cup race of the 2010 NASCAR season takes us to Michigan International Speedway for the Helava Good Sour Cream Dips 400 set to get underway on Sunday, June 13th 1:00 P.M. This is the first of two races scheduled at Michigan with the second being on August 15th.

Denny Hamlin won last week in Pocono to notch his fourth Sprint Cup points race victory of the year, while Kevin Harvick remained in the top spot in the Sprint Cup standings with 2063 points. As usual Jimmie Johnson is the odds-on-favorite to win this week, but there are a few other drivers that might have something to say about that. The following is a preview of the top seven drivers in the Sprint Cup point standings along with their current odds to win this week.

Kevin Harvick +2000

With a fifth place finish last week at Pocono, Harvick maintained his place atop the leader board with 2063 points. Last year in this race he started 12th and finished 18th. His best finish ever in this race was in 2007 when he started 19th and finished seventh. He has six career top 10 finishes at this track including three in this race.

Kyle Busch + 500

Busch remains hot and with a second place finish last week is second in points with 2044, just 19 out of the lead. Last year in this race he started second and finished 13th. His best finish ever in this race was in 2007 when he started third and finished sixth. In 10 races at this track he has three top 10 finishes.

Denny Hamlin + 700

Notching his fourth win of the year last week, Hamlin moved up two spots in the standings with 1927 points, 136 back. Last year was his best effort ever in this race and his only top 10 finish. He started from the 14th position and finished third. He has only raced at Michigan eight times in his career, finishing in the top 10 four times.

Matt Kenseth + 2000

Kenseth drops a spot this week and with 1893 points finds himself 170 out of the lead. Last year in this race he started 16th and finished 20th. He won this race back in 2002 after starting 20th. For his career, he has 13 top 10 finishes including two victories. He has five top 10 finishes in this race.

Kurt Busch + 1200

With a sixth place finish at Pocono, Busch moved up a spot with 1881 points, 182 in back of Harvick. Last year in this race he started fifth and finished eighth. He won this race in 2003 after staring from the fourth spot. He has seven top 10 finishes at this track including three in this race.

Jimmie Johnson + 350

After several disappointing races, Johnson cracked the top 10 last week with a fifth place finish. He now has 1849 points, 214 out of the lead. Last year in this race he started 27th and finished 22nd. Having never won this race, his best finish ever was in 2004 when he started third and finished fourth. He does have six top 10 finishes at this track including three in this race.

Jeff Gordon +700

Gordon was knocked out of Pocono last week after a wreck dropping him three spots in the standings. He has 1827 points, 236 back. Last year in this race he started 27th and finished second. He actually finished second in both races at Michigan last year. He won this race in 2001 after starting on the pole. In his storied career he has 22 top 10 finishes and two victories at this track. He has 12 top 10 finishes and one victory in this race.
