The Miami Heat, the first-place team in the Eastern Conference’s Southeast Division, travel to Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Knicks, the second-place team in the Eastern’s Atlantic Division.

Miami leads the season series between the two teams 2-0, with both wins coming in December.

Thank God for LeBron James. If you’re a Heat fan, that is. With injuries sidelining Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade at different times in the last month, the most sought-after free agent in history has shown that he is willing to play any position on the floor to win games … including a lot of post play recently. James has basically been the Heat’s power forward with Bosh out of the lineup and here’s the thing – he likes it! Watching him go heads up with Amare Stoudemire will be entertaining, at the least, but remember what a good passer James is and KNOW that if Mike Miller is open by an inch he’ll be kicking it out to him for the three.

The Knicks are in the middle of a resurgence and barely playing above .500 — which shows just how low the most expensive franchise in the NBA had fallen. Their biggest problem right now is finding a consistent compliment to Amare Stoudemire, who is capable of putting up 30 points and 15 rebounds every night. In order to defeat the Heat — which they haven’t done in two tries this season — they’ll need a big game from Wilson Chandler, who seems to be the team’s X-factor this year. .

The odds makers have the Miami Heat as a -3.5 point favorites with an over/under of 212.5.

The Heat have overcome their early-season struggles, LeBron is firmly in place as the alpha dog in this group and every game they get to play with Mike Miller makes them a little better. The Knicks are a resurgent franchise that get a chance to show how much they’ve improved with the additions of Stoudemire and coach Mike D’Antoni over the last two years.

Prediction:
Look for the LeBron to play maginificent on the big stage and for the Heat to win by 5.
