The Dallas Mavericks take on the red-hot Miami Heat in matchup of two of the best teams in the NBA tonight at the American Airlines Arena in Miami. Tip-off for tonight game is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on NBATV.

Dallas could be considered just as hot with wins in 13 of its last 14 games including a 103-98 win over Portland this past Wednesday as a 6 ½-point home favorite and a 106-91 win over Phoenix on Friday night as a 7 ½-point home favorite. The Mavericks are currently 21-5 straight-up (15-9-1 against the spread) with the second best record in the Western Conference and two games in back of San Antonio in the Southwest Division.

Much of their recent success can be attributed to the play Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Terry, and Tyson Chandler. Nowitzki leads the team with 24.8 points per game and Terry is second with 15.8 while Chandler is the team’s leading rebounder with 9.1. The ageless Jason Kidd continues to lead the team in assists with 8.7 per game. The Mavericks are shooting 47.9 percent from the floor, which is third best in the NBA, and averaging 99.2 points per game. Their defense has also been has been rock solid; holding opponents to just 93.2 points per game.

Miami is finally playing to the level that everyone expected with the addition of LeBron James and Chris Bosh and are in the midst of a 12 game winning streak after starting the season with a record of 9-8. The Heat have the second best record in the Eastern Conference behind Boston at 21-8 SU (14-15 ATS) and lead Orlando in the Southeast Division by 3 ½ games.

Miami is coming off a 113-91 win over New York on Friday night as a five-point road favorite and a 95-94 squeaker over Washington as a 12-point home favorite on Saturday. James comes into this game averaging a team-high 24.5 points per game but Dwyane Wade is right behind him with an average of 23.6. Bosh is kicking in another 18.2 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. The Heat are averaging 101 points per game while giving up a league-best 91.2 points per game. Its 47.6 field goal percentage is ranked fourth in the league.

Dallas is 8-1 ATS in its last nine road games and 3-2 ATS in its last five games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of its last seven games overall.

Miami is 6-9 ATS in its last 17 games at home but 8-2 ATS in its last 10 games overall. The total has stayed ‘under’ in five of its last six games overall.

Head-to-head, the Mavericks have absolutely owed the Heat; winning nine of the last 10 games SU, but is just 4-5-4 ATS. The total has gone ‘over’ in four of the last five games overall.

Earlier this season, Dallas had a fairly easy time of it in a 106-95 win over Miami as a 2 ½-point road favorite but recently the Heat do not look anything like the team that lost that game. Tonight should be a whole other story with Miami coming away with its 13th straight win, but still stick with the Mavericks to cover with the 6 ½-points.

The odds makers have the Miami Heat as a -6.5 point favorite with an over/under of 190.5.
