College Basketball Betting – Titans Aim To Knock Off Bulldogs

Super Bowl betting players will likely be focused on the playoffs this weekend, but that’s not until Saturday. On Friday, there is an intriguing matchup coming out of the Horizon League, where Butler will head to Detroit in a top-of-the-standings clash.

Butler Detroit Betting – Friday, 9:00 PM ET

The Bulldogs (12-5, 4-1) were given all they could handle and more in an 84-79 win at home over Youngstown State on Sunday, and it was largely a two-man game as Shelvin Mack fired in 28 points,, while Matt Howard had 26 points and six boards before fouling out for the Bulldogs, who had a massive edge at the foul line where they went 26-of-33, as opposed to 7-of-11 for the Penguins. However, one major problem that Butler had was defending the three-point shot, as Youngstown State was 14-of-24 from beyond the arc, which is what kept the Bulldogs from running away with this game. Butler isn’t as good as recent years, and they’re going to have to face some adversity this season. It’ll be interesting to see how they handle it, and that’s something that even those checking out soccer betting odds will tell you that.

The Titans (10-7, 4-1) needed a second-half rally to beat Illinois-Chicago 72-69 on the road on Saturday, getting 17 points from Roy McCallum, who also had a late putback to seal the deal. Jason Calliste added 16 points for the Titans, who lost Eli Holman to ejection after just 13 minutes. Holman is a double-double threat, and it looked like it took Detroit some time to figure out how to play without him, which they’ll have to against Butler as Holman will be suspended. The Titans overcame some poor free-throw shooting, and they were outrebounded 35-27 by the Flames, but they made big plays in the second half to escape UIC with a win.

Betting services could favor either team in this game, and we think Butler will come out on top of the betting lines, but not by much. The Bulldogs are 4-1 SU and 1-4 ATS in their last five trips to Detroit, and we think they’ll come out on top in both aspects as the loss of Holman will be huge for the Titans, especially with Howard coming off a big game. Also, McCallum is a top guard, but he’s still a freshman, and we’re willing to roll with Mack, who is arguably the best guard in the Horizon League, and he’s a junior with plenty of experience, so going out on the road will be nothing to him. Butler isn’t as good as in recent years, but they’re still the class of the Horizon League. Go with Butler in your sports betting picks.
