Buffalo Bulls vs Bowling Green in Prime Time Matchup on Tuesday Night

Buffalo Bulls vs Bowling Green in Prime Time Matchup on Tuesday Night

The MAC has become known for two things:  Early week matchups and lack of consistency amongst its programs.  On a year to year basis it is hard to predict which teams will be really good or bad which can make predicting the outcome of games pretty challenging.  Witness Ball State last year.

Coming into this year Buffalo was celebrating a league championship and expected to challenge again.  Sure they were losing a senior QB in Drew Willy but the pieces were in place to challenge for a division and league title.  Boom..leading TB James Starks is out for the year and this team has become one of the most effective passing teams in the league featuring a great WR in Naaman Roosevelt.  When they can get their ground game going they can look very good but they have struggled in this area…and with consistency on the whole

Bowling Green enters tonight contest with the same 3-5 record that the Bulls are sporting but they might be exceeding expectations.  They had a nice win against Troy to start the year but losses to Marshall and Ohio were head scratchers.  They are definitely a passing team as well ranking fourth in the nation in yards.  They also have the nations leading receiver in Freddie Barnes.  It looks like tonight’s game will have a lot of balls in the air.

Prediction:  Neither defense is going to slow the other significantly.  Both QBs should be able to get the ball into the hands of their playmakers and both teams will be able to run enough to have some balance.  Buffalo will try to run the ball more to control the clock.  The Bulls are the favourite at -3.5.  They should win a close one but the real play might be the over.  It is currently set at 54 which is pretty high but I think it is reachable.  This game has great overtime potential as well, in fact I am going to go out on a limb and predict it.
