2009-2010 Old Dominion Season Preview
Gerald Lee is the building block for coach Blaine Taylor. He led the Monarchs in scoring and shot 54.2 percent from the floor in 2008-09. He also made 75.5 percent of his 159 free-throw attempts. He and Ben Finney led ODU in rebounding, as they combined for 11.7 boards per game, with Finney getting six of those. Darius James returns to run the point, while Frank Hassell and Marsharee Neely are also returning starters. Defensively, ODU led the CAA in defense, holding opponents to only 60.3 points per game and only 41.6 percent shooting from the field. The Monarchs won 10 of their final 11 games, including the College lnsider Tournament. Their success should provide a good springboard into the new season.
