2009-2010 Samford Season Preview

The Bulldogs’ first year in league play was mediocre at best. While it led the league in scoring defense, Samford was outscored by nearly one point per game. Coach Jimmy Tillette needs his post play to improve as Samford was last in the conference in rebounding margin and blocked shots. Bryan Friday was the leading scorer, but wasn’t nearly as assertive on the glass as he needed to be with his size. Trey Montgomery was the leading rebounder and shot 51.2 percent from the floor. Samford will have a veteran lineup that will be familiar to its new SoCon venue this time around and could be ready to rise into the upper echelon of the North Division.
