2009-2010 San Diego Season Preview
For all that went right in the Toreros’ breakout season of 2007-08, twice as much went wrong last season – discipline issues, defections, an uninspired senior year from center Gyno Pomare and a devastating Achilles injury to leading scorer Brandon Johnson. That Johnson gets the year back makes him the major "get" of the recruiting class, if he can regain form, but forward Rob Jones transferring out is a blow. The Toreros have gone to Brazil in hopes of finding an inside game, with bouncy Rafael Crescencio joining holdover Roberto Mafra, who had an up-and-down first year.
