Florida State is glad to have guard Chris Singleton back for the NCAA Tournament. Singleton is expected to return to the lineup for the Seminoles after missing the final six games with an ankle injury. Head coach Leonard Hamilton hopes his club’s leading scorer (13.8 PPG) is able to play as the Seminoles make an appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season.

The last two seasons have seen the Seminoles lose in the first round to Gonzaga and Wisconsin by single digits. The last tournament triumph for the boys from Tallahassee came in 1998 against another team from the Lone Star state, TCU.

FSU started the season 10-2, leading some to wonder if they were ready to join Duke and North Carolina among the ACC’s elite. They even defeated Duke on January 12 to touch off a four-game ACC winning streak. Overall, the Seminoles went 2-6 against teams in the big dance, and will need all hands on deck against Texas A&M.

Like their opponents in Chicago, the Aggies also started the season in a very promising way. They were 16-1 out of the gate to start the season, including out-of-conference wins against tournament team Temple and Washington.

But a loss in Austin to rival Texas led to a stretch of three losses in four games, including a bad loss at Nebraska. They split their last four regular season games, but lost to Texas again in the Big 12 Tournament. So they enter this tournament with something to prove. It’s the sixth straight season that the Aggies are playing in the big dance, and they’ve won at least once in each of the previous five tournaments.

The Aggies allowed just 61 points per game, 23rd fewest in the nation. The leading scorer for the Aggies is Khris Middleton, averaging 14.3 points per game. David Loubeau added 11.9 points per contest and shot 50.2 percent from the field.

The odds makers have the Florida State Seminoles as a -1 point favorite with an over/under of 122.5.

Prediction: Even if he is 100-percent healthy, Singleton has played in a meaningful game in several weeks. For this reason, we’ll lean towards a healthy Texas A&M squad to win.
