2009-2010 Wright State Season Preview
The return of all-league guard Vaughn Duggins, as well as his replacement, John David Gardner, will be a huge help for the Raiders, who expect to challenge Butler for the league championship if Duggins and Gardner come back at full strength. Duggins missed all but four games last season with a broken finger and later had an ankle cleaned out. Gardner, who has had foot and ankle problems, went down with a hip injury with a third of the season to go. An operation has since corrected his hip, he hopes. Those two, plus the addition of 6-7 Paul Darkwa after serving eight years in the Navy, will give the Raiders a strong, veteran lineup to go with team-leading scorer Todd Brown.

If anybody is going to give Butler a run for their money, it should be Wright State. Coach Brownell has done a great job with the Raiders during his three years with the team and his fourth year could be his best yet. This group might not be able to beat out Butler, but they could hang around the bubble if they can win some big non-conference games in November and December.
