Wright State Players to Watch: Sophomore Cooper Land and freshmen Cole Darling and A.J. Pacher. Bigs are necessary, and the Raiders need at least two of them to come through.

2010-2011 Wright State Season Preview
Wright State feels it hasn’t lost the magic with the transfer of power from Clemson-bound Brad Brownell to promoted associate head coach Billy Donlon, who hopes to post the Raiders’ fifth consecutive 20-win season. Donlon inherits Vaughn Duggins, his best player and a guy still in green and gold due to sitting out with injuries two years ago. But Tyler Koch, Scott Grote and Paul Darkwa have left the team for personal reasons and Wright State must find big men who can play defense and score a little, which means Cooper Land and one of the incoming freshmen must step up their games. N’Gai Evans, an afterthought as a recruit, has turned into a solid player, but the Raiders need more.

If anybody is going to give Butler a run for their money, it should be Wright State. Coach Brownell has done a great job with the Raiders during his three years with the team and his fourth year could be his best yet. This group might not be able to beat out Butler, but they could hang around the bubble if they can win some big non-conference games in November and December.
