Xavier Musketeers vs Kansas State Wildcats Preview, Odds & Prediction
The Musketeers are headed back to the Sweet 16 for the third straight season. Senior center Jason Love and sophomore guard Jordan Crawford will lead the way. Xavier will need to play strong against the perimeter as KSU’s Jacob Pullen and Denis Clemente, are top notch three-point scorers, scorching BYU from downtown in their last outing. They will need a strong performance from sophomore Terrell Holloway, who can take the pressure and focus off Crawford. However, the Musketeers lack depth and have had problems defending the perimeter at times, so a strong inside effort will be needed.
As long as Kansas State continues to get steady production from its frontcourt in all phases, it will be tough to beat. The Cats is firing on all cylinders, and are wearing down their opponents with a solid outside attack from their backcourt duo of Pullen and Clemente. KSU is also relentless on the glass both offensively and defensively and can score a lot off rebounds. If they are to move on the will need a big scoring night from at least one of three forwards—Curtis Kelly, Jamar Samuels or Dominique Sutton.
The odds makers have the Wildcats as -4 ½ -point favorites.
