Xavier Musketeers vs Minnesota Golden Gophers Preview & Prediction
Xavier gelled late in the season and hopes to continue the streak. They stepped up against tough competition so should be ready for a challenge. Crawford or Holloway can carry the team. While not stars, they have confidence and composure. Love leads an undersized support team, who can provide some points. The bench isn’t quick, but knows what to do. The opposition needs to keep them away from the free throw line because they are proficient there.
Minnesota lacks a true scorer and uses Joseph in the role. Nolen was better all around, but Joseph has more point potential, though he tends to lose focus. Westbrook is the Gophers’ leading scorer and perhaps key. Sampson and Iverson need to capitalize on their potential against tougher teams and show that they have a scoring future. If Minnesota continues the hot streak, their size and defensive may be enough.
The odds makers have the Golden Gophers as -1 -point favorites.
I expect the Musketeers to close this one out on points from the charity stripes, beating Minnesota by four.
