2010-2011 Youngstown State Season Preview

Despite becoming more competitive – four of the team’s final six losses last season were by three points or less – the Penguins are mired in a nine-year streak of losing seasons and return only one starter, 6-7 senior guard Vytas Sulskis. He witt provide some early excitement, just 81 points away from becoming the 32nd YSU player to score 1,000 for his career. It appears the Penguins will also have to rely on at least one or two of their five recruits – three of them junior college transfers. They are two-guard Devonte Maymon, small forward DuShawn Brooks and point guard Fred Ford. Coach Jerry Slocum also landed 6-9 Josh Chojnacki, a Class AA all-stater from Erie, Pa. The Penguins also expect to add a couple of walk-ons to the roster.
