THE BIG 12 IS NOT DEAD! THE BIG 12 IS NOT DEAD! Just in case you hadn’t heard … and we’re damn happy about it. Mainly because it means that the nation’s second-best football conference (we bow to you, SEC) continues to get killer matchups like the one happening in College Station, Texas, that you can catch Saturday afternoon on ABC. Yes, we know the Aggies are going to the SEC but still …. No. 7 Oklahoma State taking its high-octane offense on the road will be something to behold. Another interesting matchup, over on ESPNU at the same time, is Kansas State at Miami, which could basically be a battle to get into the Top 25 because it seems that whatever team wins will be able to sneak in. vs.

Kansas State @ Miami (FL) – 3:30 PM ET on ESPNU

Great storyline here with Kansas State’s best defensive player, linebacker Arthur Brown, having played for the Hurricanes for two years before coming back to his home state after failing to crack the Miami lineup. Little brother Bryce, the nation’s top recruit two years ago, is a tailback for the Wildcats and committed to Miami before playing at Tennessee for a year and then transferring to K-State. With these two caught up in the middle of the Nevin Shapiro scandal at The U, the ‘Canes might be out to exact some revenge.

Prediction: Miami – Bet Now

Odds: Kansas State: +12.5 – Miami: -12.5 Over/Under: 48.5

vs.

#7 Oklahoma State vs. #8 Texas A&M – 3:30 PM ET on ABC

Interesting contrast in programs here … both teams trying to break into that BCS picture every year, but it seems like the Cowboys have put together something a lot more tangible under Mike Gundy in that they’ve got depth and they’ve been in a lot of big games up until this point but have never won in playing a Top 10 team when they’re also in the Top 10. That and the fact that Mike Sherman is A&M’s coach makes me think this is Oklahoma State’s time, possibly gearing up towards a battle of unbeaten later in the year in Bedlam. In the immortal words of Mike Sorrentino … “I THINK WE GOT A SITUATION RIGHT HERE!”

Prediction: Oklahoma State – Bet Now

Odds: Oklahoma State: +4.5 – Texas A&M: -4.5 Over/Under: 70

vs.

Nevada @ Texas Tech – 7:00 PM ET

Texas Tech quarterback Seth Doege is still in the mold of the old Mike Leach system and coach Tommy Tuberville, smartly, is letting the young kid sling it around. Nevada had a nice run with Colin Kaepernick at quarterback, but he’s gone and Lubbock is a tough place to go in and play.

Prediction: Texas Tech – Bet Now

Odds: Nevada: +19.5 – Texas Tech: -19.5 Over/Under: 65.5

vs.

Rice @ #17 Baylor – 7:00 PM ET

Still no big test yet for the Bears and Heisman hopeful Robert Griffin III, one of the nation’s best quarterbacks. The Owls are one of the worst teams in all of college football, and the funny thing is that because of the two schools’ proximity and lofty academic standings, they compete for a lot of the same recruits. Expect Baylor to lay the wood to Rice right here and make the decision for those kids.

Prediction: Baylor – Bet Now

Odds: Baylor: -20.5 – Rice: +20.5 Over/Under: 67

vs.

Missouri @ #1 Oklahoma – 8:00 PM ET

A lot of great games in this rivalry, including last year’s Mizzou upset of the then-No. 1 Sooners. That being said, expect a lighthearted beatdown of the Tigers from Oklahoma, a team with sky-high confidence after going into Tallahassee and winning a battle against another top 10 team last weekend. Oklahoma wide receiver Ryan Broyles is almost impossible to cover and the defense got star linebacker Travis Lewis back last week.

Prediction: Oklahoma – Bet Now

Odds: Oklahoma: -21 – Missouri: +21 Over/Under: 56.5
