If this is truly the final stand of the Big 12, then it’s off to a mighty fine start. We picked Oklahoma State over Texas A&M in a Top 10 matchup last week (we were right) and once again we find the now No. 14 Aggies in another high-profile game, this time at No. 18 Arkansas on ESPN. The sleeper game – what should be a great game – is No. 15 Baylor at Kansas State on ABC. The Bears are undefeated and have a legitimate Heisman candidate in quarterback Robert Griffin III. The Wildcats are also undefeated and coming off a huge road win at Miami. Something’s gotta give. . Listed pointspreads are provided by BetOnline.com.

vs.

Texas Tech @ Kansas – 12:00 PM ET

The Red Raiders ain’t bad, and the Jayhawks are horrible. Kansas gave up almost 800 yards of offense in its last game, a loss to Georgia Tech two weeks ago, and the wounds of which have not yet healed. Tech quarterback Seth Doege will have a field day. Jayhawks can put points on the board, but not the 50 they’ll need to win.

Prediction: Texas Tech – Bet Now

Odds: Texas Tech: -6.5 – Kansas: +6.5 Over/Under: 67.5

vs.

#14 Texas A&M vs. #18 Arkansas – 12:00 PM ET – ESPN

The Aggies have to be questioning themselves after blowing a huge lead last week at home against Oklahoma State and having chants of “BIG 12! BIG 12!” rain down on them from the rafters at Kyle Field. That being said, I don’t think the Hogs have enough ammo to keep up with their future SEC mates.

Prediction: Texas A&M – Bet Now

Odds: Texas A&M: -3 – Arkansas: +3 Over/Under: 61.5

vs.

#15 Baylor @ Kansas State – 3:30 PM ET on ABC

A battle for rankings early in the year – in our opinion this is the marquee matchup of the week in the Big 12. Bears have Robert Griffin III at quarterback and he can really play – remember he’s got more TOUCHDOWN passes than incompletions this year. Good news for the Wildcats is that if stud linebacker Arthur Brown can corral RG3, then they can win. And don’t forget that the 50,000-plus at Bill Snyder Family Stadium can be a pretty intimidating bunch. When they want to be.

Prediction: Kansas State – Bet Now

Odds: Baylor: -3.5 – Kansas State: +3.5 Over/Under: 63.5

vs.

#17 Texas @ Iowa State – 7:00 PM ET

This was where Texas fell flat on its face last year, losing to the Cyclones in Austin. They’re much improved this year with interception-master Garrett Gilbert yanked from the QB spot and a more determined (i.e. faster) defense. And it’s not the end of the world … Iowa State ain’t winning back-to-back games over the Longhorns.

Prediction: Iowa State – Bet Now

Odds: Texas: -9.5 – Iowa State: +9.5 Over/Under: 48

vs.

Ball State @ #2 Oklahoma – 7:00 PM ET

Sooners seemed happy to be dropped from the No. 1 spot, and who can blame them? They run the table and they’re still in the BCS title game no matter what. Expect them to be playing really, really relaxed here now that the burden of No. 1 is gone. Plus, no college player in the country has shown he can guard OU wide receiver Ryan Broyles yet. Don’t think that guy plays for Ball State.

Prediction: Oklahoma – Bet Now

Odds: Ball State: +37 – Oklahoma: -37 Over/Under: 60.5
