Ohio State and Michigan may have gotten a bit of a scare last week but in the end everything pretty much played to form in the conference on Saturday. Technically Michigan State’s win over Wisconsin was an upset but given the small spread and that both teams were ranked it was just a minor one if that. This week the feature game is between the two non-directional Michigan schools. They are both ranked this year giving this game more juice than it normally has. It just might be biggest game of the weekend which no one would have predicted at the start of the season.

vs.

Illinois @ Penn State – 12:00 PM ET on ESPN2

Somehow the Illini gave the Buckeyes all they could handle last week, making an upset of Penn State on the road possible, although still unlikely. Illinois held Ohio State to less than 300 total yards, including under 100 through the air for star QB Terrelle Pryor. Penn State frosh QB Robert Bolden has similar athleticism but less overall talent so it will be interesting to see how he does if the Illini can muster the same defensive effort. Penn State was outplayed against Iowa early on last week and couldn’t recover. This is a much easier test that they should win.

Prediction: : Illinois 21 – Penn State 31 – Bet Now

Odds: Illinois: +7.5 – Penn State : -7.5 Over/Under: 42

vs.

Minnesota @ #20 Wisconsin – 12:00 PM ET

Wisconsin’s sleeper national champion status officially ended with their loss at Michigan State last week. As expected they were able to move the ball on the ground but the aerial attack led by Scott Tolzien was completely ineffective. Minnesota won’t be nearly as frustrating for the Badgers and Wisconsin has beaten the Gophers six consecutive times. No reason for that to change this season.

Prediction: Minnesota 13 – Wisconsin 37 – Bet Now

Odds: Minnesota: +22 – Wisconsin: -22 Over/Under: 58

vs.

Indiana @ #2 Ohio State – 12:00 PM ET on ESPN

Was Ohio State exposed last week or just asleep? Either way I am sure that the Hoosiers scare of Michigan got their full attention. This Indiana team is one of the few Big Ten teams that can play catchup when it needs to so I don’t expect them to wilt at the Horseshoe. Still, pulling off the upset seems pretty unlikely. The Buckeyes have won and covered in the last 5 in this series and Indiana hasn’t scored more than 14 points in any of those games. I think they will exceed that total this week but it still will not be enough.

Prediction: Indiana 24 – Ohio State 38 – Bet Now

Odds: Indiana: +22 – Ohio State : -22 Over/Under: 57.5

vs.

#17 Michigan State @ #18 Michigan – 3:30 PM ET on ABC

Game of the Week in the Big Ten and a hard one to predict. Both teams have one common opponent in Notre Dame and both took it down to the wire before putting the Irish away. Big Blue did it in regulation while the Spartans pulled off one of the gutsiest overtime plays in history. Home field aside the key is Denard Robinson. He has already set a record with 4 games of 200 yards rushing and 200 yards passing combined. If he has another one of those the Spartans are going to have a tough time keeping up with the Wolverines. Lucky for them they have the best linebacker in college football, Greg Jones, on their side. If he can spy Robinson and slow him down then the Spartans have a chance. I like those odds, and a weak Michigan defense so I am going to go out on a limb for the upset.

Prediction: Michigan State 30 – Michigan 24 – Bet Now

Odds: Michigan State: +4 – Michigan: -4 Over/Under: 64

vs.

Purdue @ Northwestern – 7:30 PM ET

Northwestern is just chugging along. They are 5-0 and have to feel pretty good about getting that bowl eligible 6th victory this week at home. Purdue is missing a ton of key players including QB Robert Marve but even with them Northwestern is the better team. Dan Persa has been spectacular this season and this game could set up a huge game against Michigan State next week. That was not a typo. Michigan State vs. Northwestern could be huge.

Prediction: Purdue 19 – Northwestern 27 – Bet Now

Odds: Purdue: +10 – Northwestern: -10 Over/Under: 50.5
