Despite Wisconsin being a ranked foe I think it was a pretty big upset of Ohio State last week. Now Wisconsin goes on the road to visit Iowa which is the toughest remaining game on their schedule. Are we looking at another earth shaking day in the conference? I think not. Iowa should handle the Badgers while the conference’s highest ranked team, Michigan State, should remain among the unbeatens – even though their game against Northwestern might be closer than people expect. Big Blue has a bye this week and if any team needed it they do.

vs.

Penn State @ Minnesota – 12:00 PM ET on ESPNU

Both teams are out of the Big Ten race and on losing streaks. Minnesota hasn’t won since the opener while PSU’s struggles have people questioning JoePa…again. The Gophers are dreadful but the way Penn State has been playing they would have a tough time with the worst team in the MAC let alone the Big Ten. This one is a matter of pride for both squads but the talent edge clearly favours Penn State.

Prediction: Penn State 31 – Minnesota 10 – Bet Now

Odds: Penn State: -9.5 – Minnesota: +9.5 Over/Under: 49.5

vs.

Indiana @ Illinois – 12:00 PM ET

You never know what you are going to get from these teams. One week they are scaring contenders the next they look like they might not win another game all season. Early success means that one of these teams might actually qualify for a bowl this year. These guys play every year and go back and forth a couple of games at a time which mean Indiana is due for another win on the road in Champagne.

Prediction: Indiana 31 – Illinois 24 – Bet Now

Odds: Indiana: +14 – Illinois: -14 Over/Under: 55

vs.

Purdue @ #10 Ohio State – 12:00 PM ET

It was a huge letdown for the Buckeyes last week so it will be interesting to see how they respond. They might be a long shot for the Championship game now but they can still win the Big Ten if they keep their head screwed on. If Purdue had more talent they might be able to trip up OSU but this team is pretty patchwork right now with lots of injuries.

Prediction: Ohio State 35 – Purdue 13 – Bet Now

Odds: Ohio State: -24 – Purdue: +24 Over/Under: OFF

vs.

#7 Michigan State @ Northwestern – 12:00 PM ET on ESPN

This is a critical game for the Spartans. They are in rarified air with that #7 ranking and must be looking ahead to what could be a huge game against Iowa next week. It is a perfect trap game as they are on the road and out of the spotlight with that noon start. Northwestern is not going to back down and make it easy for them. They are led by an athletic playmaking QB in Dan Persa and could maybe even insert themselves into the Big Ten championship equation with a victory. I see a struggle for MSU but eventually a win. They have such great balance and motivation right now.

Prediction: Michigan State 31 – Northwestern 27 – Bet Now

Odds: Michigan State: -5 – Northwestern: +5 Over/Under: 53

vs.

#13 Wisconsin @ #15 Iowa – 3:30 PM ET on ABC

I was a little surprised to see how high Wisconsin jumped in the rankings after beating Ohio State last week. I guess we will have a good measure of their level after they face the Hawkeyes on the road on Saturday. Before beating the Buckeyes most were saying whats up with Wiscy while Iowa has been very impressive all season long, except for a half against Arizona. If you like the numbers than you have to back the Hawkeyes. They have won the last two and are 8-1 ATS against Wisconsin over the last 9 games. If you are more of a feel player you can back the Hawkeyes too knowing that they have one of the best defenses in the nation and are at home.

Prediction: Iowa 31 – Wisconsin 17 – Bet Now

Odds: Iowa: -5.5 – Wisconsin: +5.5 Over/Under: 48
