College Football Betting – Fresno State Returns To The Blue Turf Against Northern Ilinois

College football betting players should know that the blue turf at Boise State is one of the most unique places to play in the country, but Fresno State will be out to bring back some good vibes when they meet Northern Illinois in the uDrove Humanitarian Bowl. Fresno State usually gets beat down by the Broncos, but it’s a different story when they’ve come here for a bowl game, and they’re up against a Huskies team in turmoil.

Fresno State Northern Illinois Betting – Saturday, 5:30 PM ET

The Bulldogs (8-4) finished fourth in the WAC, including a 51-0 thrashing at the hands of Boise State on the blue turf, but they won a couple of close games to get to this point. Football betting players will see some strange numbers when it comes to the Bulldogs’ national rankings, as they’re only 71st in total offense, but they put points on the board, coming in 45th. On the other side of the ball, Fresno State is a solid 50th in total defense, but they’re 79th in points allowed. It’s usually the defense that lets them down, as the Bulldogs have allowed 35 points or more in their four losses.

The Huskies (10-3) fell to a late touchdown in the closing seconds of the MAC title game against Miami (Ohio), which ended a nine-game winning streak. But matters were made much worse when coach Jerry Kill abruptly left the team to coach at Minnesota, so the seniors on the team are going to have to step up and keep things together. Northern Illinois has the No.7 rushing attack in the country, powered by Chad Spann, and they’re a solid defensive team. They have the tools to win, but how much will Northern Illinois be affected by the late knuckleball thrown to them by Kill’s absence?

Your pay per head sportsbook has the Huskies as a 1-point favorite in this contest, but we’re taking the Bulldogs to come away with the victory here. Fresno State has won both of their bowl appearances on the blue turf, and they’ll be used to the atmosphere and the look of the place, which does play a big factor (and is a major reason “big” teams won’t come to Boise State). You never know, they may even get some extra fans from Boise State because they play in the same conference as the Broncos. Also, you can’t underestimate enough how much the Huskies will be affected by the exit of Kill. They’ve had this great 10-win season and fell just short of their conference title with this coach, who then abandons them, and it has to throw off your routine, especially being in one of the earliest bowls.  Take Fresno State for the sports betting upset.
