Crimson Tide Slowly Turning In To Tidal Wave

Another college football betting weekend on the horizon likely means another victim to be beaten up, battered, bruised and demoralized by the best team in the nation. The number-one ranked Alabama Crimson Tide are coming off a monstrous victory over number-seven Florida, flexing their muscles against the Gators in what was projected to be a close contest. The defending national champions destroyed Florida 31-6, taking a 24-3 lead in to halftime before cruising the rest of the way. The winner of the last two contests between these teams has gone on to win the BCS Championship game, and after Alabama’s most recent victory, there is little doubt that they are on track to do so again.

It is not just the result, but the way the result is achieved that makes the Crimson Tide’s success so intriguing. Alabama went undefeated last year en route to a national championship, which makes it scary to recognize that this team may actually be better than that last one. The Crimson Tide swept through three straight non-conference opponents to open the year, including number-18 Penn State in a game that was also projected to be close. Head coach Nick Saban’s side washed away Joe Paterno’s Nittany Lions, limiting them to just a field goal in a 24-3 win. What makes those first two wins even more impressive is that Alabama was able to clinch the victories without reigning Heisman trophy-winning running back Mark Ingram, who sat out the first couple of weeks of the season while recovering from an injury. When Ingram returned against Duke, he took a couple of snaps that served as more of a warm up to their meeting with number-10 Arkansas the following Northbet week. To say that the dress rehearsal was effective may be an understatement. Ingram rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns in the comeback win over the Razorbacks, including a 54-yard scamper to the endzone in the first quarter. The Crimson Tide actually trailed by six entering the final frame, only to score ten straight points to earn the 24-20 win. Regardless of how the first three quarters went, Alabama rebounded for the sports betting win, another statement in a long list early on this year.

That list grew even bigger last week, as despite the fact that they didn’t send Florida head coach Urban Meyer to the hospital with chest pains this season the way that they did last, the Crimson Tide absolutely dominated. There is no team in the country that has handled the quality of football betting opponents the way that Alabama has so far this year, and that will likely continue this week when they entertain number-19 South Carolina State as the third team in as many weeks that is ranked. Alabama has no other stretch on their schedule, and given the way they have performed, this team may actually be better than last year’s.
