vs.

#20 USC at Washington State – 3:00 PM ET

The No. 20 USC Trojans have silenced its critics as well as fans and the media by opening their season going 3-0. Not too bad for a team that was shrouded with doubt after losing their vaunted coach, and facing NCAA sanctions. Most had written then off to claim the PAC-10 honors. They will now have a golden opportunity to open their conference slate with a win over a struggling Washington State Cougars. The Cougs (1-2) have lost 11 straight games against FBS schools and has yielded a conference-high 122 points, while It’s 2.8 yards-per-carry is the worst in the Pac-10. It’s likely the Trojans will be number loss 12 on Saturday.

Prediction: USC – Bet Now

Odds: USC: -22 – Washington State: +22 Over/Under: 56.5

vs.

#19 Stanford @ Notre Dame – 3:30 PM ET on NBC

No. 19 Stanford (3-0) beat Notre Dame 45-38 in 2009 at home, but has not won in South Bend in 18 years. The Cardinal has played amazing and as a result leads the PAC-10 after a 35-0 blowout of UCLA two weeks ago. Not only have they won games, but they’re winning big, piling up mass amounts of yardage and outscoring their opponents 155-31. The Irish (1-2) on the other hand, have faltered after their win in Week 1, dropping back-to-back games, despite the ongoing heroic efforts of QB Dayne Crist. You can fault the defensive lapses and miscues for the Irish’s demise. Meanwhile, the Stanford defense has been solid holding foes to a meager 8.5 points per game while shutting down their opponents passing attack and stuffing the run.

Prediction: Stanford – Bet Now

Odds: Stanford: -4.5 – Notre Dame: +4.5 Over/Under: 58.5

vs.

UCLA @ #7 Texas – 3:30 PM on ABC

The Bruins (1-2) bounced back after they were blanked 35-0 against Stanford in Week 2 with a win over highly touted No. 23 Houston last weekend. A lot of credit has to go to a much-improved Bruins defense that held Houston (2-1) to just 108 yards after surrendering 524 yards on the ground in its first two games. The No. 7 Texans improved to 3-0 with a win over Texas Tech as the Longhorns stuffed the Red Raiders for 144 total yards, including a negative-14 effort on the ground to seal the win. It would appear that this match up has all the making of a defensive battle. But which UCLA team will show up?

Prediction: Texas – Bet Now

Odds: UCLA : +15.5 – Texas: -15.5 Over/Under: 43

vs.

#24 Oregon State @ #3 Boise State – 8:00 PM on ABC

The Beavers (1-1) continue their trek through a difficult three game non-conference schedule that ends in Boise on Saturday night. The Broncos (3-0) own a 44-game home winning streak, which includes a pair of wins over Oregon State at Bronco Stadium in 2004 (53-24) and 2006 (42-14), in each case after taking an early 14-0 lead. So to just say the team will be busy Beavers is a huge understatement. OS will need to bring its defense and hopefully not the one that faded against TCU in Week 1. Boise State has the potential to put up big offensive numbers including 648 yards against Wyoming last week. However, the Beavers have James Rodgers who leads the nation with 226.5 all-purpose yards per game not to mention brother Jaquizz who can inflict their own type of damage on the BSU defense. Remember — Oregon went to the Rose Bowl last season and the Broncos made them look like a Pop Warner team. The Ducks had more talent on that squad than this year’s Beavers team.

Prediction: Boise State – Bet Now

Odds: Oregon State: +17 – Boise State: -17 Over/Under: 56.5

vs.

California @ #14 Arizona – 10:00 PM ET

The Wildcats finally proved worthy of their No. 24 ranking by downing No. 9 Iowa 34-27 on Saturday and have now moved up 10 spots on The Associated Press poll to 14th, the program’s highest ranking since opening the 1999 preseason poll at No. 4. While you have to agree the win was ugly, Arizona could have well posted its season defining victory, solidifying their chances to grab this year’s PAC-10 crown. Cal on the other hand suffered its first defeat of the season losing to the Nevada Wolf Pack 52-31 in their last outing. The G-Bears defense came into the game leading the nation in fewest yards allowed; averaging 161 per game, but came out on the other side surrendering nearly 500 to the Wolf Pack. Despite Arizona’s struggles with the run and their defensive miscues their last time out against Iowa, I still think the ‘Cats can avenge last season loss to Cal in Tucson come Saturday.

Prediction: Arizona – Bet Now

Odds: California: +7 – Arizona: -7 Over/Under: 56

vs.

#5 Oregon @ Arizona State – 10:30 PM ET

The Ducks (3-0) could have their hands full with a Sun Devils team that nearly won at No. 11 Wisconsin on Saturday. ASU (2-1) will by far be the toughest defensive squad that Oregon has faced this season, holding opponents to just 61 yards rushing and 189 passing per game. The Sun Devils also have a sturdy offensive attack, led by QB Steven Threet that kept Wisconsin’s defense off balance for much of the day with its up-tempo spread offense. The Ducks’ new starting quarterback Darron Thomas has gotten some starts in Oregon’s first three non-conference games, but has not really shown his ability to play a full 60 minutes, as the Ducks used several reserves for at least a half against both the Lobos and Vikings. He will be tested for sure in the teams PAC-10 opener. While I like the ASU’s changes of pulling of the upset at home, I just think the Ducks have too many offensive weapons, ones the likes the Sun Devils have yet to face this campaign, to get it done.

Prediction: Oregon – Bet Now

Odds: Oregon: -11.5 – Arizona State : +11.5 Over/Under: 54.5
