Every team in the PAC 12 will be searching for a win this weekend as the teams start look to distance themselves from the pack, or try to keep from falling out contention this early in the season.

Week 5 brings plenty of action across the west, staring with Stanford taking on in-state rivals UCLA on Saturday afternoon, in a contest that is likely to give Heisman candidate, QB Andrew Luck a good opportunity to pump up his stats.

Meanwhile, the Arizona Wildcats will travel to southern California to lock horns with the Trojans in hopes of getting their first win since Week 1, but unless their defense shows up, they could drop to 0-3 in conference play, quite possibly putting them in a hole to big to crawl out of.

It’s Week 5 and the PAC 12 is operating at a intense pace, so let’s take a look at this week’s matchups. Listed pointspreads are provided by BetOnline.com.

vs.

Arizona at USC – 3:30 PM ET

Two teams looking to get their seasons back on the rails. The difference is only one’s season matters. But that won’t keep the Trojans from wanting to spoil the Wildcats’ chances of going bowling when they meet up in LA this weekend.

Arizona has lost to three ranked teams in a row, and will look to the equally troubled 3-1 Trojans, who were whipped at Arizona State, as a bit of a reprieve. Both teams need a win, but the Wildcats are trying to snap an eight-game losing streak against FBS foes.

QB Nick Foles has no problem finding the end zone, already throwing for 1,447 yards, 10 TDs and no interceptions this year. The problem with Arizona is its defense , which is giving up an average of 47 points a game.

The Trojans meanwhile, can match the ‘Cats offensive production, but does have a better defense. If USC’s D can hold up, they should walk away with a win in this one.

Odds: Arizona: +13.5 – USC: -13.5 Over/Under: 56.5

vs.

Washington State @ Colorado – 3:30 PM ET

The Buffaloes haven’t posted a winning season since 2005, but they did split a national title in 1990 and won the Big 12 in 2001. But that seems like eons ago.

Meanwhile, the Cougars haven’t posted a winning season since 2003. But that was the third of three consecutive 10-win seasons, and the Cougs played in the Rose Bowl after the 1997 and 2002 seasons.

Switch to the present.

The Buffaloes are victims of a new coaching staff, new systems, some key injuries and plain bad luck, while the Cougars, who rank No. 1 in the conference in passing efficiency, will look to help head coach Paul Wulff keep his job by ushering in the Jon Embree Era with another loss.

Senior Marshall Lobbestael has come off the bench and played well, ranking sixth in the nation in passing efficiency, after starting quarterback Jeff Tuel went down in the opener with a broken collarbone.

Colorado’s biggest question is its secondary, and even though the are 10th in pass efficiency defense, they are yet to play good passing teams.

Lobbestael and the Cougars deep receiving corps could be where the game turns in this one

Odds: WSU: +3 – Colorado: -3 Over/Under: 59

vs.

Washington @ Utah – 7:00 PM ET

Saturday’s contest will mark the first Pac-12 game inside Rice-Eccles Stadium, and Utah will want to make a statement that they belong in the PAC 12 with a big win over the Huskies.

Despite a loss to USC in Week 2, the Utes are actually having a pretty good year and seem to be finding their game. Look for QB Jordan Wynn to utilize the running talent of John White IV a lot in this one.

Nevertheless, Washington has stormed out of the gates behind a solid start from QB Keith Price who’s filled on his way to surpassing Jake Locker’s 17 TDs in 2010, already cashing in 14 of his own just four weeks into the 2011 campaign.

Washington has not exactly overpowered anyone this season, but they actually gave the Huskers a pretty good game in Week 3, despite losing 51-38.

This should be a close one, but look for the Utes to grind out a win on the ground.

Prediction: Utah 21, Washington14 – Bet Now

Odds: Utah: -7.5 – Washington: +7.5 Over/Under: 57

vs.

Oregon State @ #25 Arizona State – 10:30 PM ET

The Sun Devils have two quality wins after beating USC, and will now get the luxury of hosing a struggling Oregon State Beavers team that is unlikely to put up their first win of the season at Sun Devil Stadium, especially against an ASU team that’s already knocked off two ranked opponents.

If there’s a bright spot for Oregon State to start building on, it’s freshman RB Malcolm Agnew, who is averaging 6.8 yards a carry and has three touchdowns. That’s about half the TDs the Beavers have had all season. But Agnew is injured, but is expected to return in time from Saturday’s game.

In the meantime, ASU has been doing great under Junior QB Brock Osweiller and are riding high with the help of fearsome Vontaze Burfict.

I expect ASU to cruise to a big win in this one.

Prediction: Arizona State 45, Oregon State 7 – Bet Now

Odds: Arizona State: -18 – Oregon State: +18 Over/Under: 52

vs.

UCLA @ #6 Stanford – 10:30 PM ET

At 2-2 the Bruins are in the running for bowl eligibility, but their recent performance at Oregon State nowhere near suggests that UCLA has any chance of betting Stanford on the road.

The Cardinal is 4-0 and has dominated every team they’ve faced. With a 3-0 ATS record, there’s no reason to think that Stanford won’t cover the spread and then pour it on.

Prediction: Stanford 36, UCLA 14 – Bet Now

Odds: Stanford: -20.5 – UCLA: +20.5 Over/Under: 55
