Week 1 of the 2010 season in the SEC is in the books and there was only one upset of note amongst the all the games played. Despite gaining permission from the NCAA to play, Mississippi QB Jeremiah Masoli could not prevent a shocking 49-48 OT loss to Jacksonville State in the Rebels home opener. This week’s schedule features a couple of early head-to-head matchups within the conference that should not only be entertaining, but have an impact on the top 25 rankings.

Here is a brief look at every game this week in the SEC.

vs.

#21 Auburn at Mississippi State – 7:30 PM ET on ESPN

Auburn is coming off a 52-26 win over Arkansas State, racking up over 600 yards of total offense including 171 yards rushing by Cameron Newton. Mississippi State rolled over Memphis 49-7 and looked equally impressive on offense, especially QB Tyler Russell who completed 13-of-16 passes for 256 yards and four TD’s. The Tigers ground game prevails in this one.

Prediction: Auburn -1.5Bet Now

Odds: Auburn: -1.5 – Mississippi State: +1.5 Over/Under: 55.5

vs.

#22 Georgia @ #24 South Carolina – 12:00 PM ET on ESPN2

Georgia rushed for 184 yards with six different players carrying the ball in a 55-7 romp over Louisiana-Lafayette last week. South Carolina used a perfectly balanced offensive attack that gained 225 yards in the air and 224 yards on the ground in an impressive 41-13 win over Southern Miss. The old ball coach Steve Spurrier has his Gamecocks playing at a high level.

Prediction: South Carolina -3.5Bet Now

Odds: Georgia: +3.5 – South Carolina: -3.5 Over/Under: 49

vs.

South Florida @ #8 Florida – 12:20 PM ET on ESPN3.com

South Florida had an easy time of it against Stony Brook last week in a 59-14 win, but it will be a different story this week against Florida. The Gators looked sloppy on both sides of the ball in an uninspired 34-12 win over Miami (OH). Do not expect that kind of performance two weeks in a row from an Urban Meyer coached team.

Prediction: Florida -15Bet Now

Odds: South Florida: +15 – Florida: -15 Over/Under: 50

vs.

#19 LSU @ Vanderbilt – 7:00 PM on ESPNU

Last week LSU held off a depleted but stubborn North Carolina team to come away with a 30-24 win over the then No. 18 ranked Tar Heels. Tiger QB Jordan Jefferson only threw for 151 yards, but did connect on two crucial TD passes to help secure the win. Vanderbilt lost its opener to Northwestern on the road. It was the Commodores ninth straight loss dating back to early last season. LSU is battle-tested and ready to roll.

Prediction: LSU -10Bet Now

Odds: LSU: -10 – Vanderbilt: +10 Over/Under: 43

vs.

#14 Arkansas vs. Louisiana-Monroe – 7:00 PM ET

Arkansas beat Tennessee Tech 44-3 in its opener with WR Joe Adams coming up big for the Razorbacks. He caught six balls for 138 yards and two TD’s. This game will be the season opener for Louisiana-Monroe and most likely one to forget.

Prediction: Arkansas -34Bet Now

Odds: Arkansas: -34 – Louisiana-Monroe: +34 Over/Under: 59.5

vs.

#7 Oregon @ Tennessee – 7:00 PM ET on ESPN2

Oregon’s home opener amounted to little more than a brisk practice with a 72-0 win over New Mexico. Tennessee had little trouble in its opener as well, rolling over Tennessee-Martin 50-0. Do not expect any shutouts in this one as both teams should be able to put some points on the board. This will be a surprisingly close win for the Ducks.

Prediction: Tennessee +12Bet Now

Odds: Oregon: -12 – Tennessee: +12 Over/Under: 53.5

vs.

#18 Penn State @ #1 Alabama – 7:00 PM ET on ESPN

Penn State made short work of Youngstown State in its opener with a 44-14 win behind freshman QB Robert Bolden. Alabama knocked off San Jose State 48-3 with a punishing ground game that gained 247 yards. The Crimson Tide did not miss RB Mark Ingram against the Spartans but they will against the Lions. Penn State stays in this one until the end to give the Tide an early scare.

Prediction: Penn State +12Bet Now

Odds: Penn State: +12 – Alabama: -12 Over/Under: 44

vs.

Western Kentucky @ Kentucky – 7:30 PM ET on ESPN3.com

Western Kentucky got hammered by No.8 Nebraska in its opener with the only bright spot being RB Bobby Rainey’s 155 yards rushing. Kentucky squeaked by Louisville 23-16 in its opener behind QB Mike Hartline and RB Derrick Locke. The Wildcats are not good enough to beat anyone they play by more than three touchdowns.

Prediction: Western Kentucky +24.5Bet Now

Odds: Western Kentucky: +24.5 – Kentucky: -24.5 Over/Under: 54

vs.

Mississippi @ Tulane – 9:00 PM ET on ESPN Classic

Mississippi has to pick up the pieces after a heartbreaking loss in Week 1. Fortunately Tulane is perfect team to help the Rebels add a game to the win column. The Green Wave beat IAA Southeastern Louisiana in their opener 27-21, but they are stepping way up in class against a Rebel team looking to take out their frustrations on the next team they play.

Prediction: Mississippi -20.5Bet Now

Odds: Mississippi: -20.5 – Tulane: +20.5 Over/Under: 50
