Alleged Cable assault rules Jets-Raiders headlines

2009 World Series odds and an alleged criminal assault is threatening to overshadow this week’s Jets vs Raiders odds, as the New York Jets are in the Yankees’ shadow, while Oakland is battling just to keep its head coach on the sidelines, and out of a courtroom.

Jets vs Raiders odds – Sunday, October 25, 4:05 PM ET

The Jets are coming off a 16-13 overtime loss to Buffalo, and it’s a credit to the defense that it was even that close as Mark Sanchez was 10-of-29 for 119 yards and five picks. Sanchez played so badly that you’d think he was a part of a betting ring, and this was arguably the worst game of his entire football career. Thomas Jones ran for a career-high 210 yards and a score, and the defense forced two turnovers while holding the Bills to 296 yards. Sanchez should feel lucky that the Yankees are close to making the World Series, or else the city of New York may be asking for him to get indicted for being terrible.

Speaking of terrible, JaMarcus Russell may have earned a bit of relief as the Raiders won 13-9 over Philadelphia, and his 86-yard hookup with Zach Miller was the game’s only touchdown. However, take that completion away (and most of the work was done by Miller), and Russell was 16-of-27 for 138 yards and two picks, which is about par for the course for Russell. What’s more is that coach Tom Cable, whose alleged assault of an Oakland assistant coach may land him in hot legal water. There’ll be a press conference on Thursday at 5:00 PM ET to discuss this, but if you thought the Raiders’ NFL odds couldn’t get worse, think again.

The Jets are a 6-point favorite in your sportsbook, and last week was a wakeup call for young Sanchez, who returns to his home state of California. He admitted that he’s not used to the cold of New York, and he needs to have a good game this week to get the rest of the charges behind him once again. Meanwhile, the Raiders have this alleged Cable assault hanging over them, and that’s never a good look. Look for the Jets to roll over the Raiders in your sports picks.
