Buffalo Bills 2009 Preview, Picks, & Odds.

The Buffalo Bills began the 2008 NFL campaign strongly, surging to a surprising 5-1 start. However the team then went on a landslide, closing out the season’s last 10 games with a 2-8 record to finish the season 7-9.

The team struggled at quarterback, with Trent Edwards at times looking like a revelation and at other times looking inept. J.P. Losman was more towards the latter half of that equation and the running game never took off facing a crowded line all the time.

The defense was stronger against the pass than the un but wasn’t excellent in either category, finishing a mediocre 14 th in both points and yards allowed.

BUFFALO BILLS 2009 PREVIEW

Things are going to have to go better in their 2009 Buffalo Bills Season than the 7-9 record that they have had the last three years. Coach Dick Juron has to try to build a better relationship with the Bills fans, the owner Ralph Wilson gave him a contract extension during the season last year. The 2009 Buffallo Bills Season Preview is hopeful, they have helped their receiving core this year by adding the controversial Terrell Owens. He has shown that he is a dominate player if he can get along with his quarterback and fellow offensive players. That move should have a big impact for long tome Bills receiver Lee Evans, who has seen double coverage a lot the past couple of seasons. They have a pretty good set of backs to help keep the defenders on their toes, they can run the ball and are very effective in short dump off passes. The Bills gave up on Jason Peters and decided to trade him to Philadelphia. They did not go out and find a replacement for him this season. the offense should have some major improvements from last year, where as for the defense it could be a tough year if they don’t get a grasp of the system this season.

2009 BUFFALO BILLS OFFENSE:

The Buffalo Bills now have a crew of legitimate weapons to help Trent Edwards. The club also plans on using a more fast paced offensive attack, featuring a lot of no huddle action. Questions about premier running back Marshawn Lynch’s health and durability linger, and the Bills brought in Dominic Rhodes to be a stop gap solution. If Terrell Owens and Lee Evans can get along and share the ball, they could each help each other out while opening up room for the ground game to get going. The potential is there and the pieces are in place, but whether or not everyone executes will decide the team’s 2009 fate.

2009 BUFFALO BILLS DEFENSE:

The 2008 defense was led by Penn State alum Paul Posluszny. Now the club has added another Penn State product, defensive end Aaron Maybin to the mix. The Bills also help to have a healthy Aaron Schobel on the defensive line for the entire season, as he missed most of the 2008 campaign with injury. A line featuring Schobel and Maybin would go a long way towards picking up the pass rush and stiffening up against the run as well. It would also allow playmakers such as Kawika Mitchell more room to operate.
