New England quarterback Tom Brady has passed for 1,874 yards and 14 touchdowns in just five games this season, and is on pace to shatter everyone record for quarterbacks. He will continue his historic campaign this week against the Dallas Cowboys (2-2).

The success of the Patriots this season, and the way the success is coming, has shown how different the league is compared to where it was when quarterback Tom Brady first entered the scene back in 2001. The Patriots are allowing the most passing yards on defense, and are near the bottom in overall defense as well. But they are outscoring every team they play substantially.

This week, the Patriots will play a team that seems to be on its last wheel.

The Dallas Cowboys will head to Foxboro looking like the most unstable team in the league. Quarterback Tony Romo just can’t seem to put together four quarters of solid play, and has given away far too many games for his team to really rally around his as their leader.

One thing that the Cowboys have going their way in this matchup, is they are coming off a bye week and will be well rested and prepared to play one of the hottest teams in the league.

Luckily, too, for the Cowboys, namely Romo, the team will need to run the ball all day, so as to keep Brady and the Patriot offense off the field. Romo should be able to lead his offense to plenty of points, as the Patriots are the worst in the league at defending the pass.

But, America’s team isn’t likely to slow down Brady enough for Romo and the offense to outscore them, unless the offense can keep them on the bench. This is the most important aspect of the game for the Cowboys, and the only way they can win.

The odds makers have the New England Patriots as a -7 point favorite with an over/under of 55.

Matt’s Prediction: Patriots 28, Cowboys 24 – Surprisingly, this has a chance to be one of the best games of the year. Dallas’ defense is good, there is no denying that, and they should be able to hold the Patriots at bay for a little while, but they will need the help of the offense. I just don’t think it will be enough, but I’d still take the Cowboys against the spread.
