NFL Week 6 Betting Previews- Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets

The AFC East will be on display this upcoming Monday night when the Miami Dolphins tangle with the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in a matchup of two teams in desperate need of a win. Game time is set for 8:30 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Miami is one of three teams still looking for its first win of the season after stumbling out to an 0-4 start straight-up (0-3-1 against the spread) while getting outscored 104-69. The Dolphins had a bye this past week but lost to San Diego 26-16 their last time out as 6.5-point road underdogs. The total has stayed ‘under’ in their last three games after going ‘over’ in their season opener against New England.
Matt Moore will get the start at quarterback against the Jets after Chad Henne was lost for the season with a shoulder injury. Moore started five games for Carolina last season and completed just 55.2 percent of his passes while throwing for twice as many interceptions (10) as touchdowns (5).
New York started the season with a pair of wins over Dallas and Jacksonville at home, but has spiraled down to a 2-3 SU start (1-4 ATS) with three straight losses on the road. Last week, the Jets were beaten by the Patriots 30-21 as 7.5-point road underdogs in a game that went ‘over’ the closing 50.5-point line. The total has gone ‘over’ in four of their first five games this season.
The Jets’ problems this season have been widespread with an offense that simply cannot run the ball and a defense that cannot defend the run, which is in direct contrast to what you would expect from a Rex Ryan coached team. Mark Sanchez has also struggled over the three game losing streak with two interceptions and three lost fumbles while completing less than 55 percent of his throws.
The Dolphins are 6-18-2 ATS in the last 26 meetings between the two teams, but 3-0-1 ATS in their last four trips to New York. The underdog is 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings and the road team is 7-1-1 ATS in the last nine games.
Unfortunately for Miami fans these favorable trends do not hold true as the Jets get back on track with a solid win that covers the seven points.
The odds makers have the New York Jets as a -7 point favorite with an over/under of 43.5.
