Jacksonville Jaguars Current odds to win: Division: 8-1 Conference: 25-1 Super Bowl: 50-1

Jacksonville finished fourth in the South with a 7-9 record. They were 5-3 at home and 2-6 on the road. They went 3-3 in the division and 6-6 in the conference.

They failed to qualify for the postseason.

Jacksonville Jaguars Outlook for 2010

In 2007 Jacksonville went 11-5 and seemed on the verge of building a team that could seriously compete with the Colts for the top spot in the South. After 5-11 and 7-9 campaigns in the last two seasons they could be on the verge of a major shakeup if things do not get better in 2010, as another slow start would put head coach Jack Del Rio back on the hot seat for his job.

The Jaguars problems are wide spread as they ended last year ranked 24th in both total points scored and total points allowed. Their passing game was ranked 19th and their passing defense was ranked even worse at 27th. The main thing this team suffered from was a complete lack of consistency from one week to the next. In week four they beat the Titans 37-17 and in week five they lost to Seattle 41-0. Somewhere along the line Del Rio lost the ability to have his team ready to play each and every game.

It appears they will stick with David Garrard as their quarterback, who by his own admission realizes this is a make or break year for his career. Despite their offensive woes they did little this offseason to address them. The one bright spot last season was the emergence of Maurice Jones –Drew as a dynamic running back as he rushed for close to 1400 yards. What they lack is a true #1 receiver in the lineup and this need has yet to be addressed.

In the draft they decided to use their first four picks on defensive lineman including a very questionable first round pick, 10th overall on DE Tyson Alualu from California. They added RB Deji Karim and KR Scotty McGee in the later rounds with their other two picks.

The Jaguars are a franchise heading in the wrong direction. With a suspect QB and a porous defense the prospect for a turnaround in 2010 does not look promising at this point.

2010 Jacksonville Jaguars Prediction: 6-10, 4th place in the AFC South.
