Current odds to win:      Division: 3-1 Conference: 14-1 Super Bowl: 30-1

Miami finished third in the East with a 7-9 record. They were 4-4 at home and 3-5 on the road. They went 4-2 in the division and 5-7 in the conference.

They failed to qualify for the postseason.

2010 Outlook

After winning the division in 2008, Miami took a step backwards last season after being stuck with a brutal schedule and losing their QB Chad Pennington early in the season. With Chad Henne as the new starter they almost rallied to make the playoffs but fell short after losing their final three games. It is back to the drawing board as they need to find a way to once again close the gap with the Patriots and the Jets in order to make it back to the playoffs.

The Dolphins acquired WR Brandon Marshall from Denver taking a major step toward improving their 20th ranked passing offense. He gives them a legitimate number one receiver as well as a deep threat they had been missing last year. To try and improve their offense line they signed veteran C Richie Incognito and are hoping that third round draft pick OT John Jerry from Mississippi will be able to step in right away to help.

To try and improve a defense that ended the year ranked 22nd in the league, they used seven of their eight picks in the draft to address this side of the ball. In the first round with the 28th pick overall they selected DT Jared Odrick from Penn State. In the second round with the 80th overall pick they took DE Koa Misi from Utah.

Miami has some good young talent but still lacks the veteran leadership that will needed to compete in this division. Head coach Tony Sparano will face his toughest challenge yet trying to get this team back to the postseason as he needs a lot of things to come together quickly in order for this to happen.

2010 Prediction: 8-8, Third in the AFC East.
