NFC Week 14 Predictions

NFC Top 3 Matchups-Week 14

There are only four weeks left in the 2010 NFL regular season and every division in the NFC remains completely up for grabs. The Eagles and Giants are tied atop the East at 8-4. The Falcons lead the South at 10-2, but the Saints continue to stay right behind them at 9-3, with the Buccaneers mathematically alive at 7-5. The Bears are 9-3 and have a one game lead over the 8-4 Packers in the North. The West is wide-open with the Seahawks and Rams tied at 6-6 and the 49ers amazingly still alive at 4-8.

Here is a look at my top three matchups in the NFC for Week 14 of the NFL season. All odds are provided by BetUs.com.

Seattle @ San Francisco (-4 ½)               Over/Under: 41

If the Seahawks could find a way to win a few more games on the road, the race in the NFC West would be over. Unfortunately, they continue to struggle outside the friendly confines of Qwest Field. One of their two wins on the road this season did come against Chicago in Week 6.

The 49ers are coming off an ugly 34-16 loss to Green Bay and head into this game with Alex Smith back as their starting quarterback for an ineffective Troy Smith and Jeff Reed as their new kicker in place Shane Andrus, who filling in for the injured Joe Nedney. They will also be without RB Frank Gore, who was lost for the season with a hip injury.

Seattle is 3-12 ATS in its last 15 games on the road and 1-5 ATS in its last five as an underdog. San Francisco is 2-7 ATS in its last nine games as a favorite and 2-6 ATS in its last eight games overall. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of these two team’s last eight meetings. Take the Seahawks, as they appear to be the lesser of two evils in this matchup.

St. Louis @ New Orleans (-9 ½)              Over/Under: 47

It has been awhile since the Rams have been in contention in the NFC West, but at 6-6 it is currently their division to lose. St. Louis won its second game of the year on the road last week against four losses with a 19-6 win over Arizona.

The Saints continue to find ways to wins games that could very well  have ended up as a loss. Last week, Drew Brees forced a timely off sides call to extend a late fourth quarter drive that eventually proved to be the game winner in a 34-30 victory over Cincinnati.

St. Louis is 4-1 ATS in its last five games against the Saints and 6-1 ATS in its last seven games overall. New Orleans is 6-14 in its last 20 games against the NFC. The total has gone ‘over’ in the six of these team’s last seven meetings. The Rams find a way to keep things close enough to cover with the points.

Philadelphia (-3 ½) @ Dallas                   Over/Under: 50 ½

The Eagles are hoping to get All-Pro CB Asante Samuel back for this game after their secondary was torched for eight touchdown passes in their last three games including four by Jay Cutler in their 31-26 loss to the Bears two weeks ago.

The Cowboys are 3-1 under interim head coach Jason Garrett including impressive wins over the Giants and the Colts. John Kitna remains the starting QB while Tony Romo recovers from a broken collar bone. Dallas will be without WR/KR Dez Bryant for the remainder of the season after he broke his ankle in last Sunday’s game.

Philadelphia is 5-1 ATS in its last six games in December and 6-2 ATS in its last eight as a road favorite. The total has gone ‘over’ in seven of the Eagles last eight games overall. Dallas is 4-11 ATS in its last 15 games in December but 4-0 ATS in its last four games overall. Take the Eagles, as they are a tough team to beat in December no matter where the game is played.
