NFL Betting – The Steelers Find a Way to Win in New York

Pittsburgh Steelers @ New York Giants – Sunday November 4, 2012 4:25PM EST

The online sportsbook experts still do not know what to make of the Pittsburgh Steelers this season. The problem with the Steelers is that the entire team is never on the field for a complete game. This week, the Steelers will be without running back Rashard Mendenhall and safety Troy Polamalu, again. There have been games this season where the Steelers were finishing the game with reserve defensive linemen getting ready to play offensive line because there were so many injuries. Through it all, the Steelers have managed to put together a 4-3 record and is riding a two-game winning streak. It is all about game plan and sheer will when it comes to winning in Pittsburgh this season.

The New York Giants got off to a shaky start by losing its opening game of the season at home to the Dallas Cowboys. But the football betting experts never expect too much from the Giants during the regular season as the Giants usually like to save its energy for the playoffs. The Giants have a four-game winning streak going and currently rule the NFC East with a 6-2 record, but something just does not feel right with the Giants. It feels like New York is due for one of those losses that starts a mid-season slide, and this week would be the week that it would happen.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Betting on who will be in the Steelers’ starting lineup is becoming as challenging as determining whether or not the Steelers will win a game. One player that the Steelers know will be in this game is quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and, lately, that is really all the Steelers have needed. The betting sites online are always amazed at how Roethlisberger still has the ability to keep drives going by making up plays as he goes along and keeping the opposing defense off balance. The side-effect to that is he also keeps his own offense off balance, but it seems to be working up to this point.

New York Giants

The New York Giants are relying way too much on quarterback Eli Manning’s ability to win games in the fourth quarter, and that will hurt New York against a team like Pittsburgh. The New York defense has not been able to shut down an opposing offense in a while and it has been up to Manning to come in and lock down the win.  As effective as that approach has been the last four weeks, it may prove to be the Steelers’ undoing in this game.

The Bottom Line

The Pittsburgh Steelers are making a habit of hanging around until late in the fourth quarter and then stealing wins. The Giants are clinging to games in the fourth quarter and hoping that Eli Manning can punch the team through for the victory. In this game, the persistence of the Steelers will overcome the ineptness of the Giants.
