NFL Week 14 – Over/Under Picks

Top 3 NFL ‘Over/Under’ Plays- Week 14

Last week, for the 10th time this season, the ‘over’ bet had the advantage with nine games scoring more points than the total line and seven games scoring less.

The total average number of points scored in each game came in at 42.4, which was three points less than the week before. The highest average total was in Week 8 at 56.5 points and the lowest was in Week 1 at 36.6. The most combined points scored last week was 73 in Dallas’s 38-35 victory over Indianapolis. The least amount of points scored was 16 in Kansas City’s 10-6 win over Denver.

Cincinnati @ Pittsburgh                Over/Under: 39 ½

The 2-9 Bengals could very well be the worst team in the league, especially on defense. They are ranked 20th overall and 28th in points allowed. Cincinnati is giving up an average of 26.8 points per game for the season, but has given up an average of 36.3 in its past three games.

No one can deny the toughness of Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, who played last week with a broken bone in his foot. This week he will be back after undergoing surgery for the broken nose he received in that game. Bottom line is; he is playing no matter what, which is bad news for Cincinnati.

The total has gone ‘over’ in six of the last eight meetings in Pittsburgh and in four of the last five meetings overall. The Pick: OVER

Seattle @ San Francisco                Over/Under: 41

The Seahawks are ranked 24th in the league in scoring; averaging 20 points per game. They are even worse on the road; averaging just 16.33 points in six games. Seattle has only scored more than 20 points on the road twice this season.

The 49ers come into this game with the 30th ranked scoring offense; averaging just 16.9 points per game. Head coach Mike Singletary has decided to go back to QB Alex Smith as his starter for this game after Troy Smith proved to be ineffective at moving the offense.

The total has stayed ‘under’ in three of Seattle’s last five games against the NFC West. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of San Francisco’s last eight games as a home favorite. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of the last nine meetings. The Pick: UNDER

Philadelphia @ Dallas                    Over/Under: 51 ½

The Eagles have the No.1 ranked offense in the league and the 20th ranked scoring defense. They are averaging 28.7 points per game which is second in the NFL and first in the NFC, but giving up an average of 23.4 points per game.

The Cowboys are averaging 24.5 points a game on offense, but ranked 31st in points allowed; giving up an average of 28 points per game. Even with going 3-1 in the last four weeks, they have scored a total of 133 points but given up a total of 104 points.

The total has gone ‘over’ in seven of Philadelphia’s last eight games overall and in 10 of Dallas’s last 11 games overall. The Pick: OVER
