NFL Week 16 – Top Pointspread Plays

NFL Top 3 Pointspread Plays-Week 16

Last week 10 home teams won their game straight-up, and seven came out on top against the spread. Six road teams won SU and nine road teams won ATS.

A total of seven dogs managed to win their games ATS with five teams winning their game SU. For the second week in a row, Detroit pulled off the biggest upset of the week with a 23-20 win over Tampa Bay as a 6 ½ -point road underdog.

Turning to Week 16 there are six home team getting points. The largest spread has Carolina getting 14 ½ points on the road against Pittsburgh and the smallest spread has the N.Y. Jets at Chicago as a ‘pick’.

Here is a look at my top three ‘pointspread’ plays for the NFL’s Week 16. All lines quoted are courtesy of Betus.com.

Dallas (-7) @ Arizona

The Cowboys are still playing for their jobs so this game carries a lot of meaning despite their 5-9 record. Backup QB John Kitna has done an excellent job in relief of the injured Tony Romo and has this offense ranked seventh overall and fourth in passing.

After watching the Cardinals play their last few games you have to wonder how they managed to actually win four games this season. Their defense is ranked 27th in the league overall and their offense is ranked second to last.

Dallas is 4-1 ATS in its last five games against the NFC and 5-1 ATS in its last six overall. Arizona is 0-4 ATS in its last four games against the NFC and 1-5 ATS in its last six overall. The Pick: Dallas -7

New York (Jets) @ Chicago (-2.5)

The Jets huge win last week over Pittsburgh put them in excellent position to lock up a wildcard berth, but they will be looking to establish a bit more consistency, especially on offense, heading into the postseason. QB Mark Sanchez is expected to play despite injuring his throwing shoulder in last week’s game.

The 10-4 Bears continue to roll along, but despite clinching the NFC North they still need to win this game to hold onto the number two seed in the conference. Chicago has one of the best defenses in the league, but you keep waiting for the bottom to fall out of an offense that is ranked 30th overall.

New York is 10-3 ATS in its last 13 games on the road and 7-0 ATS in its last seven games on grass. Chicago is 2-7-1 ATS in its last 10 games in December. The Pick: New York

San Diego (-7 ½) @ Cincinnati

The 8-6 Chargers are one game behind Kansas City in the AFC West so they need to win their last two games and hope that the Chiefs stumble in one of theirs to win the division. This team has made another late season run to get into this position with six wins in its last seven games.

After winning the AFC North in 2009, the 3-11 Bengals have to be one of the biggest disappointments in the AFC this season. WR’s Terrell Owens, who is on the shelf for the last two games with a knee injury, and Chad Ochocinco have lived up to their reputations by taking shots at everyone but themselves for the collapse.

San Diego is 5-1 ATS in its last six games as the favorite and 6-1 ATS in its last seven games overall. Cincinnati is 2-5 ATS in its last seven games as an underdog. The Pick: San Diego -7 ½
