NFL Week 7 – Over/Under Picks

Top 3 NFL ‘Over/Under’ Plays – Week 7

For the fifth week in a row the ‘over’ bet had the advantage with eight games scoring more points than the total line and six scoring less. The total average number of points scored in each game came in at 43 which was a few points lower than last week’s 45.6, which was the highest of the season. The lowest was in Week 1 at 36.6. Kansas City and Houston combined for the most points with 66 in the Texans 35-31 win over the Chiefs. The least amount of points scored was 26 as San Francisco won its first game of the year with a 17-9 victory over Oakland.

Here is a look at my top three plays on the Over/Under line for Week 7 in the NFL. All total lines quoted are courtesy of BetUS.com.

vs.

St. Louis @ Tampa Bay                    Over/Under: 38

St. Louis rookie QB Sam Bradford has played above everyone’s expectations so far and the Rams have won as many games (3) as they did the last two seasons combined, but they are still struggling to put points on the board. The Rams’ offense is averaging 17.2 points per game which is currently ranked 28th in the league.

Tampa Bay is 3-2 and right in the thick of the NFC South division race with Atlanta and New Orleans, but the Buccaneers’ offense is even worse than the Rams at scoring, averaging just 16 points per game.

The total has stayed ‘under’ in seven of the Rams last 10 games as a road underdog. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 10 of the Buccaneers last 12 games overall. The Pick: UNDER

vs.

Arizona @ Seattle                             Over/Under: 40

Arizona is only averaging 17.6 points per game on offense, but the Cardinals’ defense is giving up an average of 27.6 points per game which is 29th most in the league. Undrafted rookie QB Max Hall will be making his second NFL start in this game so turnovers could be a factor.

Seattle is averaging a little less than 20 points a game on offense and giving up 19.4 points a game on defense as both units have been consistently average so far this season.

The total has gone ‘over’ in the Cardinals last four games. The total has gone ‘over’ in four of the Seahawks last six games as a home favorite. The total has gone ‘over’ in nine of the last 12 games between these two teams. The Pick: OVER

vs.

New England @ San Diego              Over/Under: 47 ½

New England’s offense is ranked first in scoring; averaging 30.8 points per game. It is also ranked 10th in total yards and 12th in rushing yards per game. The Patriots defense is ranked 25th in points allowed, giving up an average of 23.2 points per game.

San Diego’s offense is ranked fifth in scoring; averaging 26.2 points per game. It is also ranked first in total yards and passing yards per game. The Chargers defense is ranked 19th in points allowed, giving up an average of 21 per game.

The total has gone ‘over’ in six of the Patriots last seven games. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of the Chargers last seven home games and in four of their last five games overall. The Pick: OVER

Last week’s record: 1-2     YTD: 10-8
