As we enter the 12th week of college football, the 2010 PAC-10 season is quickly beginning to play out. With some teams already out of postseason contention, and others still hanging on to the hope of bowl eligibility, there are some big games still left to play.

However, one race that has just about been decided, is who will be this year’s PAC-10 Heisman Trophy candidate.

With Oregon running back LaMichael James, and Stanford’s Andrew Luck still running neck-and-neck.

James rushed for 91 yards on 29 carries in the Ducks’ win over California. He leads the nation in rushing yards per game (158.0) and rushing touchdowns (17).

Luck completed 33 of 41 passes for 291 yards with an interception in the Cardinal’s victory over Arizona State. He’s the nation’s 10th-rated passer with 22 touchdown passes and seven interceptions. He’s completing 69.6 percent of his passes. He’s also rushed for 373 yards and three touchdowns.

This week’s game against Cal could make or break Luck’s chances for contention.

Now let’s take a look at my predictions for all of this week’s PAC-10 action, and don’t forget to check back every week right here at sportsbooklists.com, as I will continue to give my free picks for all the current week’s PAC-10 contests helping you make all of your college football wagers –winners.

vs.

UCLA (4-5, 2-4) at Washington (3-6, 2-4), ESPN, 8:00 P.M. ET

The Bruins need to win two of their final three games to earn a bowl berth, so there will be a lot riding on UCLA’s trip to the Apple State.

The Huskies has been blown out in three consecutive games, but will return starting QB Jake Locker who will appear in his final home game. Can the senior, who has suffered through an extremely disappointing season, put on a show in his finale?

The Huskies are coming off a bye week, after suffering an embarrassing 53-16 defeat at Oregon on Nov. 6. Of course, they will now get a break as they try to sneak past a bipolar Bruins defense that held Oregon State to just 267 total yards in its 17-14 win, but was mauled in Arizona just one week before.

The Huskies definitely have the edge in passing, but when it comes to the running game the Bruins may have the advantage behind the efforts of sophomore tailback Johnathan Franklin who has posted three 100-plus games, including rushing for 216 yards in a win over Washington State, and 158 three TDs in the Bruins upset over Houston.

This could bode well for the Bruins, as the Huskies are allowing just shy of 220 yards rushing per game and 30 rushing TDs, worst in the PAC-10.

With the forecast calling for rain, I’m going with the underdog in this one as the Bruins get it done on the ground.

Odds: UCLA: +2.5 – Washington: -2.5 Over/Under: 53

vs.

No. 6 Stanford (9-1, 6-1) at California (5-5, 3-4), FSN, 3:30 P.M. ET

This year’s Big Game between the No.6 Stanford Cardinal and the Cal Golden Bears is quite possibly the biggest between the two schools, at least for Stanford anyway, which wants to keep its hopes for a Rose Bowl appearance alive.

Cal will hope to repeat its 1982 performance in which the Golden Bears ran back a last second kickoff return for the game-winning touchdown.

If the Bears want to win this one, they will need to bring the same defense that held No. 1 Oregon to just 317 total yards, way below its average of 567.2 YPG, and a season low 15 points.

Cal is a much better team at home (4-1), so if the defense can keep them in them in the game, the offense will just need to do its job in this one. Easier said than done against a Stanford defense that ranks 27th nationally and is allowing just 20 PPG.

With QB Kevin Riley out with a season-ending knee injury, the Cardinal can stack the box keying in on Cal weapon of choice, RB Shane Vereen.

With a little Luck –as in QB Andrew — Stanford should get off to an early scoring frenzy as they have so often this season scoring 39.8 PPG, earning a much-needed road victory.

Prediction: Stanford – Bet Now

Odds: Stanford: -6.5 – California: +6.5 Over/Under: 51.5

vs.

No. 20 USC (7-3, 4-3) at Oregon State (4-5, 3-3), ABC, 8:00 P.M. ET

Does losing to Washington State now make Oregon State the worst team in the PAC-10? Probably not, but losing three of its last four PAC-10 games sure helps mount a good case.

The Trojans have lost two of three in Reser Stadium, and even the victory was a slim one.

With the Beavers in jeopardy of missing the bowl season for the first time in five years, there should be a little more fight in Mike Riley’s squad. However, like wounded prey, they boys of Troy will be moving in for a kill as they move one win closer to completing a 10-win season.

The Beavers has played decent losing some close games until it all fell apart against the Cougars, who dominated them on all sides to the ball, including outgaining them offensively by more than 100 yards while shutting down speedster Jacquizz Rodgers and sacking QB Ryan Katz five times.

While Beavs need to win all of its remaining games to become bowl eligible, the Trojans are playing for nothing by pride.

USC has rebounded with back-to-back wins as they swept through Arizona on a standout performance from running back Marc Tyler, who put on a clinic rushing 31 times for 160 yards and one TD in their last outing against the No. 18 Wildcats.

If this is what USC will be serving up, there could be chaos in Corvallis.

Given the Beavers current problems and the mounting pressure to salvage a sinking ship, the Trojans have zero stress, which should be enough to give them the win.

Prediction: USC – Bet Now

Odds: USC: -3.5 – Oregon State: +3.5 Over/Under: 58.5
