The Oakland Raiders finally seem to be out of the funk, but everyone will find out for sure when they face the Patriots. The Raiders are riding high, and are doing it on the shoulders of running back Darren McFadden. McFadden has taken the league by storm so far this season, putting up huge numbers against respectable teams, something that no one has seen out of a Raiders running back since Bo Jackson.

McFadden will have another chance to impress when his team takes on the Patriots, as New England doesn’t do well against stopping the run.

The Patriots are coming off a stupendous defeat against the Buffalo Bills, but quarterback Tom Brady is still tops in the league, averaging over 442 yards per game through the air. But, Brady hasn’t done well against man-to-man defenses in the past, and he will be facing the best in the business against Oakland.

Oakland’s defense is fast and strong, and will no doubt put pressure on Brady through out the game.

Defensive tackle Richard Seymour will be facing his old team for the first time since New England traded him away for Oakland’s first round pick.

Seymour leads a bully of a defensive line, and if they can put pressure on Brady and force him to make a few mistakes, as the Bills did a week ago, Oakland has as good a chance as anyone. But they will need help from their offense.

While McFadden is likely to stampede over New England’s defense, the offense will have to have some support from quarterback Jason Campbell. Campbell has been a great facilitator for the Raiders, but will need to spread the field a little, as Patriot’s head coach Bill Belichick is the best at responding to offensive attacks, unless they are well-balanced.

The odds makers have the New England Patriots as a -3 point favorite with an over/under of 27.5.

Matt’s Prediction: Raiders 24, Patriots 20 – It will be a high-scoring game, and the Raiders will finally prove to everyone that they are back in contention for a playoff spot. Take the over easily at just 27 ½, and expect this game to boast at least 900 total offensive yards.
