Not only did St. Louis lose its home opener to Philadelphia 31-13 as a 4.5-point underdog, it lost running back Steven Jackson for this game with a strained quad and their top wide receiver, Danny Amendola for the season with a dislocated elbow. Defensive back Ron Bartell was also lost for the year with a fractured bone in his neck.

Sam Bradford was knocked out of the game with a bruised finger on his throwing hand, but expects to be ready to go against the Giants. His sophomore debut was pretty much forgettable with 17 completions on 30 attempts for 188 yards to go along with a lost fumble that was returned 56-yards the other way for a score.

New York’s season kicked-off with a sloppy 28-14 loss to Washington as a 2.5-point road favorite. The total in this game went ‘over’ the 39.5-point line.

Part of the blame goes to Eli Manning, who completed 18-of-32 attempts for 268 yards and scored the first touchdown of the game on a two-yard run, but threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown to put the Redskins up for good. This is not a good sign considering that Manning was responsible for 30 turnovers last season; 25 interceptions and five lost fumbles.

St. Louis is 8-2 against the spread in its last 10 games following an ATS loss and 4-1 ATS in its last five games following a double-digit loss. The total has gone ‘over’ in four of its last five games as an underdog. The Giants are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in four of their last five games at home.

The past trends for both teams definitely favor St, Louis, but the loss of Jackson and Amendola will take its toll in this game as the Rams are just not that deep to lose that much production all at once.

The odds makers have the New York Giants as a -6 point favorite with an over/under of 43.5.

The Pick: New York 27      St. Louis 16
