Tennessee Titans 2008 NFL Record: 13-3 | Tennessee Titans ATS (Against The Spread): 12-3-1

Tennessee Titans 2009 Preview, Picks, & Odds.

The Tennessee Titans had a spectacular regular season in 2008. They burst out of the gates to a 10-0 start and finished the year with a 13-3 record and a first round bye. Unfortunately they were one and done in the postseason, losing to the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round. The team’s performance during the regular season was surprising given that Vince Young was given the boot from the starting quarterback position and Kerry Collins manned the helm. Collins proved calm and capable, if not spectacular, and his mostly steady hand helped guide the team all year. More important though was an impressive running attack spearheaded by the super fast Chris Johnson and the punishing LenDale White. The defense ranked 2 nd on the year in points allowed, led by a fearsome defensive line. Albert Haynesworth asserted himself as one of the best defensive players in the game, Jevon Kearse was a vintage version of himself and tackles Tony Brown and Kyle Vanden Bosch had excellent seasons. The team also featured a young, ball hawking and hard hitting secondary with the likes of Cortland Finnegan, Michael Griffin and Nick Harper.

TENNESSEE TITANS 2009 PREVIEW

The 2009 Tennessee Titans Season Preview looks bright, the Titans are coming off of a year that gave them the best record during the regular season and got knocked out of the playoffs in the first round. They had a strong defense lead by Albert Haynesworth who said show me the money and left for the Redskins. They were lacking some receivers to add to the 2009 Tennessee Titans powerful running game.. They picked up a good receiver in free agency in Nate Washington and drafted Kenny Britt with the 30th pick to give some more targets for Kerry Collins. Hopefully they can all keep their composure and there won’t be any freak outs by Vince Young. The Defensive Coordinator from last year is now the head coach of the Detroit Lions.

2009 TENNESSEE TITANS OFFENSE:

You can’t ask for a much better running back tandem than Chris Johnson and LenDale White. Not only are both productive and dangerous, but they are completely opposite from one another, forcing teams to have to defend both styles of the running attack. Vince Young is eager to reclaim his starting quarterback job, but Kerry Collins isn’t eager to relinquish his perch. It’s entirely possible that the reverse of last year happens, with Collins opening the season and Young coming in quickly to replace him. The team upgraded at wide receiver by bringing in Nate Washington, but he isn’t a number 1 guy. Luckily all of the wide receivers will face single coverage as the running attack commands more attention.

2009 TENNESSEE TITANS DEFENSE:

You just can’t replace a player like Albert Haynesworth, he was an absolutely dominating force over the 2008 season. The question is if the rest of the defensive line proves their own talent in 2009 or if they collapse in his absence. The former is much more likely with this group of players. The defensive backfield is another strong spot for the club. Cortland Finnegan and Michael Griffin both emerged as big time players during the 2008 season, and having the veteran Chris Hope back there with them certainly helps. The defense should be able to put together another very solid season even without Haynesworth, as the unit is ripe with talent.
