MLB Baseball – Reyes Looks For First Win In 27 Starts Against Yankees

Belmont Stakes betting players usually tend to stay away from horses who have spotty winning records, but if Jo-Jo Reyes was a horse betting option, he wouldn’t even make it to Belmont Park. Reyes hasn’t earned a win in his last 27 starts, and he’ll try to snap that skid on Wednesday when Toronto faces off against New York in the Bronx.

Blue Jays Yankees Betting – Wednesday, 1:05 PM ET

Reyes (0-3, 4.07) had to feel sick to his stomach as he took a no-decision in a 5-2 loss at home to Houston, a loss that was none of his doing. Reyes tossed seven shutout innings, allowing five hits with seven strikeouts and a walk in his best start of the year, but his bullpen let him down. The record is 28 starts, and that is obviously a record that Reyes would love to avoid, but MLB betting players may try to stay away from him against the Yankees, a team he hasn’t faced before. Still, the 26-year-old southpaw has been decent on the road despite an 0-2 mark in five starts, posting a 2.96 ERA.

The Yankees will counter with Freddy Garcia (2-4, 3.12), who took his fourth loss in five starts as his team fell 2-1 at home against the rival New York Mets. Garcia gave up a pair of runs on five hits over seven innings with the same number of walks as strikeouts (two), and he also allowed his seventh home run in five starts. The 34-year-old righthander is 6-6 in 15 starts against the Blue Jays in his career with a 6.06 ERA, and he lost at home to Toronto on April 29th to kick off this slump he’s in.

MLB betting odds will likely have the Yankees favored at home in the finale of this three-game set at the new Cathedral, and the Blue Jays won the first game by a score of 7-3. This is going to be a test of Reyes’ mental strength to bounce back from a win that should have been his, but the Blue Jays’ offense will try and get a big enough lead that even their subpar bullpen can hold. Garcia has also run into some bad luck when it comes to things like run support, timing and errors, but given his numbers against the Blue Jays in the past, the way their offense is playing, and the last start he made against Toronto, it isn’t looking good for the veteran. Reyes’ luck has to turn at some point, and look for the Blue Jays to do their part to make sure he doesn’t tie MLB record for most consecutive starts without a loss. Go with Toronto when you’re betting online.
