MLB Baseball – White Sox, Yankees Clash For Third Straight Day In New York

Kentucky Derby betting players have to follow their picks through a schedule of prep races, but in baseball, it’s pretty easy to follow your favorite teams as they often play six games a week, at least. In New York on Wednesday night, the Yankees will host the Chicago White Sox in the third of a four-game set, and a pair of veteran pitchers will take to the hill.

White Sox Yankees Betting – Wednesday, 7:05 PM ET

Mark Buehrle (1-2, 5.40) earned his second straight loss as the White Sox were beaten 9-3 in Detroit, and he definitely didn’t hold his own in a duel with the Tigers’ Justin Verlander. Buehrle was knocked for six runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings of work, striking out five with a pair of walks, and he was also taken deep for the second consecutive start. Buehrle is generally a slow starter anyway, but Chicago’s MLB betting odds are dropping due to a terrible start, so he’s going to have to find his game quickly. It may not come against the Yankees as the 32-year-old southpaw is 1-7 in 11 career starts when facing the Bronx Bombers, posting a 6.68 ERA, and he’s also 0-1 in two starts at the new Yankee Stadium, racking up a 5.91 ERA.

Bartolo Colon (1-1, 3.50) got his first win of the season in a 6-2 victory in Toronto, allowing a pair of runs on five hits over 6.2 innings, striking out seven with two walks. He also gave up his second homer of the season, but overall, Colon did a good job in his first start of 2011, and he’ll likely be counted on even more as Phil Hughes continues to recover from an arm injury. The 37-year-old righty has spent two stints with the White Sox, starting 34 games in 2003, and another 12 in 2009, but he has also faced them 19 times, posting a record of 9-6 with a 4.15 ERA.

MLB betting odds will likely favor the Yankees at home, and the series got off to a slow start for the Bombers after a 2-0 loss on Monday night in which Chicago’s Philip Humber took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning. The White Sox would love a similar effort from Buehrle, who tossed a no-hitter against Texas in 2007 and a perfect game against Tampa Bay in 2009. When he gets going, Buehrle is as good as any pitcher in the majors, and he gets a good matchup in Colon, who was coming off elbow surgery in his second stint with the White Sox and his action this season is his first since then. Because we’re not sold on Colon just yet, we’re going to take Chicago on the road in our sports betting picks.
