It would be a positive way for the Orioles to end the season and build on next year.

Lester is 15-9 on the season with a 3.49 ERA. He is also 0-3 in his last three starts in a stretch where he has given up 16 earned runs. Lester’s inconsistency is one of the reasons why Bostonis falling from the World Series betting picture. The entireBoston pitching staff has been incredibly inconsistent all season long, but it still has a chance to atone with two strong performances to finish the season.
Baltimore Orioles
Alfredo Simon gets one more look on a MLB mound before the Orioles decide if he will be on its starting rotation next season. In his last 10 starts, Simon is 1-5 with a 5.73 ERA. It isn’t Simon’s control that seems to be the problem, it is more his technique than anything else. He gives up a lot of hits which turn into a lot of runs. There is a good chance that MLB fans inBaltimore will be watching the last start of Alfredo Simon in aBaltimore uniform. But, at the same time, the Orioles hope that Simon goes out with a bang.

The Red Sox have had several critical games that it needed to win all throughout September andBostonhas failed to deliver every single time. There is nothing in the Red Sox’ play that would indicate an ability to suddenly turn on a switch and win this game. But that was the same situation as late April whenBostongot off to the worst start in the team’s history. It got turned around then, and fans hope it can get turned around now.
