NBA Basketball – Clippers Could Catch Mavericks Looking Ahead

March Madness betting has slowed down over the week as there isn’t as much action, so that means more time for NBA betting, and there is an intriguing matchup on Wednesday night at the Staples Center. Dallas will be in Los Angeles for back-to-back games against the Clippers and Lakers, and the Clippers have a chance to catch the Mavericks slipping if they’re looking ahead to Thursday’s nationally televised game against the defending champions.

Mavericks Clippers Betting – Wednesday, 10:30 PM ET

The Mavericks won their fourth in a row with a 91-83 victory in Phoenix, even though they were pummeled 46-24 in the paint, and outscored 22-12 on the fast break. Dallas won this with defense as they held the Suns to a miserable 1-of-16 from three-point land, while they were 10-of-26 from beyond the arc. Jason Kidd had 18 points, while Tyson Chandler added 16 points and 18 rebounds for the Mavericks, and those watching March Madness scores have seen the three-point shot dominate the NCAA Tournament. It was definitely the difference in this game as Dallas made their shots, kept the Suns quiet from long range, and it ended with a victory.

If the Clippers can continue to get double-doubles from both Blake Griffin and Chris Kaman, the Clippers are going to be a problem in coming years. Griffin had 22 points and 16 boards, while Kaman added 17 points and 12 boards (along with three swats) in a 94-90 win over Toronto, outrebounding the Raptors 51-40. Eric Gordon dropped 17 points for the Clippers, who held the Raptors to 38.8% from the field, and they also had 11 blocks as a team as DeAndre Jordan came off the bench with four. It’s been an up-and-down year for the Clippers, but they have a good core of young players, led by Griffin, and they could have a big jump next season.

NBA betting odds should have the Mavericks as a slight favorite on the road, as the Clippers are 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS in their last five games at home against Dallas. The Clippers are 3-2 SU in their last five games and were at least competitive in losses against the Suns and Lakers, and we feel they’re going to pull off the upset because the Mavericks will be focused on the Lakers on Thursday night in a game that could have playoff implications in terms of the standings, but more importantly, it’s a statement game. The Clippers are still getting used to Kaman back in the lineup alongside Griffin, and they’re 8-5 SU in the month of March. Look for the Clippers to take advantage of a Dallas team looking towards (and rightly so) to Thursday’s game, and bet on Los Angeles in your online sportsbook.
