NBA Basketball – Knicks Need To Right The Ship Quickly As Magic Come To Town

Even online March Madness betting players have been taking some time away from their bracket to check up on the New York Knicks, as the honeymoon is over after picking up Carmelo Anthony. The Knicks have lost six of their last seven and on Wednesday, they’ll welcome a streaking Orlando team to Madison Square Garden.

Magic Knicks Betting – Wednesday, 8:00 PM ET

The Magic won their third in a row after a 97-86 win in Cleveland, although they made it closer than it needed to be as the Cavaliers outscored them by 11 in the fourth quarter. Dwight Howard had 28 points and 18 boards to lead the way for the Magic, who shot 46.8% from the field while holding the Cavaliers to 39.5%, while outrebounding them 47-38. Simply put, the Cavaliers had no answer in the paint for Howard, who also added four blocks, and he had four steals and four assists in one of his best all-around games of the season. MLB betting players know you need that big hitter in the middle, and Howard has embraced that for Orlando, and he’s surrounded by a capable cast.

The Knicks couldn’t get anything going in the fourth quarter of a 96-86 loss to Boston at home, as neither Anthony nor Amare Stoudemire scored from the field in the final 12 minutes. Anthony had a team-high 22 points, while Chauncey Billups chipped in with 21 points, and Stoudemire added 16 points and 11 boards for the Knicks, who were physically beaten by the Celtics in a game that had a playoff atmosphere. The Knicks were held to 40.5% from the field, they were outrebounded 48-38 and the Celtics outscored them in the paint by a score of 44-28. In a possible preview of the postseason, Boston showed that this New York team still has a ways to go before they can challenge the elite in the East.

Betting services should favor the Knicks at home, although it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Orlando favored and to be honest, if New York is favored, it won’t be by much. The Magic are making their first trip to New York since November 2009, and they’re 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five games at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks, who have problems on both ends of the floor. Anthony hasn’t learned yet how to integrate his skills into an offense that prides itself on ball movement, and well, they’ve never been a great defensive team in the first place. Also, outside of Stoudemire (who isn’t a defensive stopper by any means) and Ronny Turiaf, the Knicks don’t have anyone to guard Howard, who has averaged 27.0 points, 17.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in two games against New York this season. Take the Orlando Magic to pile on the struggling Knicks in Wednesday’s online sports betting picks.
