NFL Betting – The Dolphins Will be Drowning in 2012

NFL betting experts used to pay very close attention to what the Miami Dolphins were up to all season long. When Dan Marino was the quarterback, anything was possible inMiami. After Marino left, the team waited a few years and then brought in the wildcat offense to try and excite the fans and win games. But without Marino, the Dolphins were just wading in water and not getting anywhere.

It was only fitting that the “Big Tuna” Bill Parcells would try to come to the Dolphins’ rescue. But even Parcells could not get past the climate of frustration that has been looming over the Dolphins since Dan Marino and head coach Don Shula retired. These are not the glory years for the Dolphins, and the football betting sites are not predicting that the glory years will be coming back any time soon.

Offense

With the number eight overall pick in the 2012 draft, the Miami Dolphins took quarterback Ryan Tannehill. On a roster that boasts the most experienced quarterback as journeyman Matt Moore, one would think that Tannehill would at least be given a strong chance to be the starter. But the Dolphins went out and signed former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback David Garrard and pushed Tannehill down to number three on the depth chart.

When the online bookie experts break down theMiami offense, it does not look good. Whether it is Matt Moore or Garrard under center, the Dolphins will have a struggling quarterback running its offense. The best wide receiver on the team is Chad Ochocinco and the best running back is Reggie Bush. The Dolphins will run the ball a lot in 2012, and that is probably the only way this offense will score points.

Defense

TheMiamidefense needs a little help to be competitive in 2012. The 2011 defense finished third in the league against the run and allowed the sixth fewest points in the league. But the defense had problems against opposing passing games, and that does not help theMiamioffense at all.

When the defense is constantly losing the battle between the 20 yard lines against the opposing passing game, then that does not set the Miamioffense up with very good field position. A sportsbook review of theMiami roster would expect the Dolphins to make changes on the defensive line and in the secondary. Aside from a couple of late round draft picks, the Dolphins have made very few moves to improve its defense.

Outlook

With the Buffalo Bills making significant improvements and the New England Patriots being the New England Patriots, that leaves the Dolphins to fight it out for third place with the New York Jets. Considering how little the Dolphins have to fight with, it looks like a last place finish forMiamiin the AFC East.
