NHL Game Preview for Saturday March 26, 2011: Anaheim Ducks @ Chicago Blackhawks

Betting Online Overview

Chicago fans may never admit it, but there were serious questions as to whether or not the Chicago Blackhawks would give themselves a chance to defend their Stanley Cup title in the 2010-2011 season. But as the online March Madness betting begins, the sportsbook promo experts can see that the Blackhawks will be in the playoffs and look ready to defend their title.

The Anaheim Ducks also looked to be down and out this season on more than one occasion. The team got off to a slow start, and the 5dimes experts started to wonder if the Ducks would drop to the bottom of the conference. But the Ducks picked themselves up and started to make a run for the playoffs. Then, in February, starting goaltender Jonas Hiller was injured and deemed to be out for the season. The Ducks stumbled again and dropped out of the playoff race. But with help from troubled veteran goaltender Ray Emery, the Ducks have climbed back into eighth place in the Western Conference, and now are trying to fend off teams such as the Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames.

Chicago Blackhawks

Whatever head coach Joel Quenneville is telling the Chicago Blackhawks, he needs to keep saying it. The Hawks are 6-2-2 in the last 10 games and they are riding a two-game winning streak. Chicago has never lost in overtime at home, and they sport a 23-14-0 home record to prove it. The Blackhawks trail the Detroit Red Wings by seven points in the Central Division, and they are tied with the Nashville Predators in the division with 88 points. But all Chicago cares about is holding on to that fifth spot in the Western Conference and getting a chance to defend their Stanley Cup title. Considering that the ninth place Dallas Stars are only two points away from Chicago, it would be a good idea for the Blackhawks to keep winning.

Anaheim Ducks

If the Anaheim Ducks can win this game, then they would leapfrog over the Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators into fifth place in the conference. Not only that, but the Ducks would only trail fourth place Phoenix by two points, and that would put Anaheim in a position to challenge for fourth place and secure a first round home-ice advantage situation in the playoffs. This is an extremely important game for the Ducks, and the record of 8-2-0 in the last 10 games, which includes a four-game winning streak, shows that Anaheim is ready for this challenge. The Ducks are a decent road team with an 18-15-3 road record, and that is going to help them now and in the playoffs.

The Bottom Line

The Ducks feel rejuvenated with the play of goaltender Ray Emery. There were some hanging heads in Anaheim when Jonas Hiller went down for the season. But the Ducks have gained a lot of momentum in the last few games, and they will look to continue that roll over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Pick: Anaheim Ducks
