Tennessee- Ohio State Preview

The March Madness odds favorites have struggled this year, in no region more than the Midwest where the one, three, four, and seven seeds all failed to reach the sweet 16, including the number one overall seed Kansas, which fell in the second round to number nine ranked Northern Iowa. The Road To The Sweet 16: Tennessee

Through all of the adversity that the Volunteers have faced this season, it is a testament to the character and depth of head coach Bruce Pearl’s squad that they were able to survive the SEC and make it through the first two rounds to reach the Sweet 16 of the national title tournament. After an incredible stretch run of five straight wins through the conference, including a 74-65 home win over conference champion Kentucky, Tennessee made it all the way to the finals before falling to the Wildcats. After shaking off opening round jitters in a close win over San Diego State, the Vols made sure to not underestimate Ohio after the Bobcats shocked number three-ranked Georgetown, beating them 83-68. This will be their toughest super casino test since the loss to Kentucky, but after all they have accomplished this season, this isn’t an impossible task for an improbably underdog.

The Road To The Sweet 16: Ohio State

The Buckeyes must feel like they have destiny behind them after watching number three Georgetown fall in the first round before number one seed Kansas dropped out in the second. Ohio State has won nine straight games, including setting a Big Ten record for largest margin of victory in its 29-point blowout victory over Minnesota in the conference championship game. UC Santa Barbara and Georgia Tech provided little adversity in the Buckeyes first two March Madness contests, which they took by a combined 26-points. With arguably the best player in college ball leading the way in Evan Turner, Ohio State could be the team to represent the Midwest in this year’s sports betting Final Four.

Who Will Advance To The Elite Eight: Tennessee vs Ohio State

This could be the most exciting of the Sweet 16 matches, featuring the top player in college basketball and his favored team against an improbable underdog that continues to win. Five players are averaging over nine points a game for the Volunteers, led by guard Scotty Hopson’s 12.5. In comparison, four Buckeyes are averaging over 12 points per game, led by Turner’s 20. Tennessee has enjoyed an excellent run this season, but the Sweet 16 will be the final stop on an improbable NCAA March Madness run.
